17-3 is a good record in the BIG, but 1-3 vs the top teams is not good They wernt expected to do much this year so I’d say they exceeded expectations with what they have done.

I know I can get crazy on them at times prob because I have so many memories of those past teams and I have to stop using that as my benchmark for all other teams. At beginning of season I didn’t expect them to do a ton and they have done quite well for normal expectations I think. Not my insane ones. I do dream what it be like if hord and grey were able to have a terminal outside on floor with them.

I'm convinced that if PSU were playing with Aiyana Whitney as a frosh or soph, we'd be raising at least one banner in Rec Hall next year.
The reality is that this tremendous Soph class with be denied hardware yet again. Unless we get a consistent quality OH in next year, these Sophs will win no championships during their four years at PSU and the dynasty will be over.

You never know what can happen in offseason.

Let’s hope things click for Cathey next season and not give up on her just yet. She has the physical tools but needs to get more comfortable and confident in the matches. Reminds me a bit of Simone Lee in her early playing days before she transitioned to becoming an AA. Not predicting that Cathey will be a first team AA but she will get better.

You never know what can happen in offseason. Yes, I know of the incoming transfer rumors as well. I'm also aware of the Fischer girl from South Carolina. But until we get an effective OH, the talent of this wonderful Soph class will continue to be wasted. Players come to Penn State to win championships because that is a perfectly reasonable expectation at Penn State. I just desperately want to see these Sophs leave PSU with at least one national championship ring.

I trust in the coaching staff to develop at least one of the existing OH's. Whether that be Bailey, Phegley, Clark, Ferguson, or one of the newcomers Fitzpatrick or Van Den Elzen. However, we'll need a second OH to effectively replace Gorrell.

I wouldn’t count on Ferguson. She was noticeably absent this weekend and I believe she will be transferring out before next season. Bailey looks promising but she needs to get stronger in the offseason. Same with Phegley. Clark needs more floor time and I think she will follow a path similar to Cathey before she can become a consistent contributor.

If she does, it opens up another schollie, which is great for bringing in a transfer... hopefully.

Don’t know why she was absent this weekend but I heard rumors about possible transfer out leading up to this weekend. While she had the height, I did not see the physicality to compete at this level.

As far as seeding goes in the tournament, this is a meaningless game. The NCAA selection committee made their bracket today. They won't change it one way or the other based on this match because the two teams are too closely ranked. They need to have the bracket done today so ESPNU can get their graphics and story lines set up tomorrow morning. The only way a late Saturday match would change anything is if it was a blockbuster upset. I'm certain that the bracket has contingencies built into it and I'm sure that today's result will play into one of those contingencies. There is no way they leave a matchup of this magnitude out of the equation.
The bracket does have possible contingencies for major last minute upsets. However in the last AVCA poll PSU was #7 and Minnesota was #8. How does the outcome of this match move the needle? It is a big match for PSU fans. Not so big for a committee looking at about 70 to 80 teams for bracket placement of 64 teams and getting them in geographic regions that makes some travel sense.
My NCAA tournament prediction is Wisconsin seeded #6, Nebraska #7, and Penn State #8.
Despite the loss to PSU, I still think Wisconsin has the most talent in the country and should be the favorite for an NC. Of course sporting events in a big tournament rarely go as expected.

Seeding is based mostly off RPI, S.O.S., and other factors. The AVCA ranking is not considered.
PSU went from # 14 RPI to # 16 RPI, which is a considerable jump.

I observed her at a home match in late September and she seemed to have developed good rapport with other team members and was very supportive from the bench. That said, I agree she looks like strength may be an issue for this year. I've heard Coach mention weight work several times when talking about various players this year. We have a history of some very good Virginians on the team...Brown, Carp, one might say Shifflett. So I hoped to see her grab a big role.Ahh well.
