With Oklahoma and Texas going to the SEC, Stanford sees the writing on the wall. They won't be a competitive DI football team and the PAC-12 will not be a factor in national football rankings. Stanford has put together an exploratory committee to look at creating a DII West Coast conference with no athletic scholarships. There have been rumors about B1G adding some of the PAC-12 schools. At this point in time it looks like that's not something Stanford is interested in. Wow! That is really big news (no pun intended, honest).

The players went home recently to spend some time with their families before eventually returning to campus. I’m not sure when training camps opens, but I assume it will be within the next week or so. I doubt there will be any open scrimmages before the season starts, but I could be wrong.

The rumor I'm hearing most often is that USC wants to join the B1G and is trying to bring UCLA, Cal and Stanford along. Apparently, Fox Sports is interested in the idea, as long as the Oregon and Washington schools are excluded. Not sure why Fox Sports doesn't want them included in a tv deal, but that's the rumor.

B1G West? Put Nebraska in it, along with Rutgers (out of spite)

This is an awesome video Nebraska athletics’ creative team produced for Nicklin Hames. Nebraska consistently does a great job showcasing its athletes in innovative ways on social media. Sandy Barbour -- we're looking at you. Penn State needs to up its game. It will help the athletes, the programs and the University.

Ohio University and The Ohio State University are scheduled for a tourney @ OSU later this month. Carlston will not face his successor, however. Oddly. But not. (OU and TOSU will each play Washington and N.KY.) TOSU's media page and schedule as I viewed them do not even mention that OU will be at the tourney. How's that for leadership, comraderie, or being a good host? Oldenberg should do better than this.

One of the few times I don't agree w/Mary Wise on something. But I'll say this: penalizing a team for an errant earing or whatever...no. Happens in club all the time and it seems wrong to lose a point over. Just remove it.
