Yeah. But will take 6 points over net zero. But it's all good, it's in the books.

Actually, Hord committed no errors and chipped in 6 Ks and 6 blks for 9 points. Gray posted 9 Ks but 7 Attack Errors, 2 SEs, 1 RE; back on the plus side she added 4 BAs...so I think her point total contribution adds up to 0 on the day. But in the tail end of set 4, she came through with her best work of the day IMO, including a share of the final block w/ACK. If it's how you finish that counts, well, !! Which is the lowest number of kills for Hord this year. And she hit .286 which may also be a low this year. Hord's results were impaired by setting issues. When the ball was set high enough she was lights out. Not all of the low sets were a result of poor serve receive. Might be one of the reasons Coach put Emily in the match.

My comments about Hord could have been takes as a criticism of her play. I really think, as you do, that the problem is more with Gabby. Whatever the problem is, whether it's Gabby or Hord, (or both), their connection seems to have gone downhill in the last 2-3 matches. It's hard for me, (at least), to be sure of where the problem lies. Hopefully in the next week they'll be able to reconnect and get back to where they were before. The good middle connection really helps open up the outsides.

Which leads me to believe the problem lies with Gabby. Which I would tend to believe the Coach thinks the same, as regards his taking Gabby out as many times as he did. As you say, it's in the books, they won, and hopefully whatever the issue is can be corrected soon.

I also think Coach may be taking Gabby out for possibly a bigger block at the net with Emily because once Emily rotates to position 1, he brings Gabby back in. And I totally agree with you that Gabby’s connection with her hitters seems off as of late.

I mentioned elsewhere that I saw Blossom coughing...a lot...during a TO. Lingering stuff from her time during the games she had to miss? I hope not, but it made me wonder.
And when a setter struggles, my eyes turn to the passing. Yup, we've been getting digs...but some are more productive than others.

AC Fitzpatrick had three aces each match this weekend against Purdue. Her topspin serve is nasty.

Coach did mention that Emily's play after the opening matches created some 6/2 opportunities. Still Gabby was front row quite a bit so I am not sure if the sub in this match was for blocking or for other reasons.

The B1G awarded Grace Cleveland "defensive POW" for her work against us in the series.
