The conundrum is a small roster doesn't allow for much depth. A larger roster increases the odds of someone getting Covid. If one assumes there was a chance the Wisconsin matches would result in two losses, doesn't the cancellation help Penn State to make the NCAA tournament.
So Wisconsin, Nebraska, Minnesota, Purdue, and Ohio State make the tournament. Will there be room for PSU?

Penn State was ranked #12. I think they make the tournament.

I agree if selection committee considers AVCA poll.

Well, we will have a winning record, which we might not have had otherwise. Not having a winning record might have been fatal to our chances...and would not have done well for our RPI. But will we have a squad healthy enough to play, let alone be healthy enough to recover and live a normal life? Hope everyone on and supporting the team is close to healthy as can be, given a positive test somewhere.

I probably should know this, but I dont: how will the teams be isolated/sequestered for the tournament? What will attendance capacity be?

This is what the NCAA email says (not answering your question)
A very limited number of seats, within the new socially distanced arena configuration, will go on sale Tuesday, March 30, at 11 a.m. Eastern time. You must use the code NCAAVB when ordering.
Seats will be sold in socially distanced pods of two (2) or four (4) seats. Fans may purchase no more than four (4) tickets for each session and tickets will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis. --- General public tickets will not be available for the matches played in the first and second rounds, or the regional semifinals. Due to space constraints in the CHI Health Center Omaha Convention Center, a limited number of tickets will be made available to the participating teams only.

Because we all know John Cook is such a sly Huckster (oops, Husker), I take that to mean that they will be giving away, free, all unsold tickets to Husker donors, as the restrictions appear to apply only to sale of tickets.

Hope everyone on and supporting the team is close to healthy as can be, given a positive test somewhere. I have no idea how they compute RPI this year and I'm too lazy to look into it. In years past B1G got a big step up from a high winning percentage in non-conference games. That doesn't exist this year. So the overall W/L percentages across the B1G conference will be the same as every other conference. That in itself doesn't take into account the Big Ten is the strongest conference in the country. Strictly going by W/L percentages no matter how you do it would not be fair to the B1G this year.

B1G10 Network broadcast of the Purdue-Ill match included the constant refrain that PSU must make it into the tourney, arguments for, debunking arguments against. Nice message.
BTW, set 1 of the PU-IL match was an all Trammell/Cleveland/Newton/Bush show. Maybe the most dominant set I've seen anyone play this year...scoring by dominating point after point. Wow.
WI first team to go undefeated in B!G since ... us! ... in 2009.
