That was the worst loss I've seen by USA in a long time. Our girls played extremely flat and could not do anything right. Russia played with a lot of energy and did not let a ball fall on the floor. That is the best I've seen Russia play in a long, long time. It was a tale of two different teams. Both will regress back to their mean.

China takes out Italy in straight sets. USA, Italy and ROC all at 3-1 with Italy having one more point than the others. Final pool matches have USA vs. Italy and ROC vs. Turkey. What are the seedings looking like now? Does Russia take 1st place in Pool B?

Major adversity .... Will be a real challenge to get their confidence back after getting dominated in all phases.

Major adversity .... Will be a real challenge to get their confidence back after getting dominated in all phases. You may be right, and certainly playing well is preferable to playing poorly. But even the best teams play poorly from time to time. One mark of good teams and players is how they deal with adversity. So yes, they will have to dig deep and challenge themselves to do better. They may or may not be able to accomplish that, but if they don't, I doubt it will be because they lost their confidence. Then again, this is based on my zero games playing or coaching the sport.

Well, IMHO, having been on the receiving end of few butt whoopings, I can only say it made us more determined the next time we took the field, these are highly competitive women who have been doing this a long time, the only thing I see them doing is get mad as hell and look to return the favor.

Hancock subs in the third set due to injury to Poulter against Italy. Livestream announcer is extremely complimentary about Hancock; says no drop off at all from Poulter.
After a few minutes of evaluation on the sidelines Poulter taken off court in a wheelchair.
