I look at Hord's numbers for Nebraska; 2-0-10 for .200 against PSU (she only had 9 blocks), 4-1-8 for .375 against NW, and 5-0-8 for .625 against PUR. What's with the NEB setters? The other MB Allick is getting 18, 14 & 13 attempts respectively. Hord should be getting at least that many attemps. I almost, almost, feel bad for Hord. I know, weeping crocodile tears! She should be getting at least as many attempts as Allick if not more. Can you imagine how much better NEB would be if Hord got more attempts. Don't get it. It is interesting that Hord's hitting % against PSU may have been her worst all season. Definitely shows that somebody on PSU had practiced against her, ya think? Somebody on VT put a 1st team/2nd team All B1G together and Hord wasn't on it. Somebody said that Hord should be on it despite the lack of offense. What??? Hord can only hit what the setters set her. Sure wish she was still on PSU. I think Allick beat her out.

Watched the NU v UMD match last night. UMD came out fast and hot and was up ~7 points 3/4 of the way through set 1 and then the bottom fell out. They ended up being swept and looking nothing like they did against PSU.

Lots of lucky breaks all going NU's way; and Thomas was Thomas.

The only reason I can think of for making a public statement mid-season and giving no reason is so a nationwide search for a head coach can be started. They need someone in place sooner rather than later for recruiting/transfer portal reasons.

They need someone in place sooner rather than later for recruiting/transfer portal reasons. *If they don't already have a person in mind, the early start doesn't really help alot, because more coaches (I would guess many more coaches) will be available after the season is over. If they do have a person in mind, and they are available now, the early announcement may be necessary to satisfy some kind of "job posting" requirement, I guess (since the formal job posting would get out anyway).

Given how this was a carefully planned transition, I found McCutcheon's interview response to be flat-footed/ham-handed, almost petulant. I understand that others likely tied his hands (somewhat), he still had room to do more than 'no comment.' Did UM benefit from hearing that Hugh was taking jobs anywhere from Italy to Australia, heading a new league, whatever? They all created a circus, which was not what you're trying to do when getting out in front of speculation. Good thing they're not putting him in charge of UM Comms.

BTN is doing it right. Hopefully they televise more matches next year. The Big Ten will end up a mega conference before long.
