So Maryland beats Wisconsin at home, then goes to Minnesota and gets completely dismantled! It could be an interesting season! Well, the results in those two matches underscore what Russ Rose says alot: It's really hard to win on the road in the Big Ten Last week, only 3 teams played both matches on the road. One went 1-1 (WI); two went 0-2 (OSU, MSU) Of the 11 teams that played on the road, only 5 had a win (WI, PU, IL, PSU, NE, 4 of whom are ranked)

MN was swept by WI. And worse than that, sets 1, 3 they only scored 17. Set 2: 22.

Purdue lost in 5 to 3-0 IL I think I saw that Purdue had better numbers than Illinois in almost every category for the match, but fell short in three sets where their errors, lesser efficiency, made the difference. And scoring isn't cumulative. The B1G is going to be really, really tough this year.

All I know is Samedy posts 16, Player of the [fill in the blank] and they still got hurt. By a team that lost to MD. Same MD that MN held to 12, 13, 12 or something. I'm not sure if anything's going to be predictable this season.

Well, when Samedy hits .229 on 49 attempts, the two OH hitters hit around .150 and the middles cumulatively hit .133 with with only 1 middle getting any kills at all, MINN is gonna have problems. MINN can't get the ball to the floor. The MINN team is hitting .238 in the entire season and .233 in the B1G. It doesn't help that MINN doesn't do middles. Only 15 attempts in the WISC match. It appears to me that the middle issue for MINN is a combination of poor serve reception along with middles that just aren't very good offensively. (Of course, it's hard for middles to be good with poor serve reception). I'll bet MINN fans are yearning for the days of Tori Dixon and Regan Pittman . I'm wondering what MINN is gonna do next year with Samedy gone (I think). Don't know what their recruiting is like for next year, but they need some good hitters coming in all positions, oh, opp & middle. It makes me be thankful for the really good/great middles that PSU has had in the past; Nia Grant, Katy Slay, Haleigh Washington, Kaitlyn Hord, Selena Gray, Allie Holland, Tori Gorrell. (Just going back to 2012 or so. Not as familiar with the middles prior to that, besides Arielle Wilson.) Who would have thunk that Allie is hitting .462 and Kaitlyn .375. Go figure.
