Did anyone else think the UCF assistant coach was Geoff Carlson? Anyone? Also, I was so wishing Todd Dagenais's name was spelled like it sounds in French (dejeuner) so we could have had jokes about eating his lunch. Anyone with me on this? No?

I like AC's attitude on the court. I think it lifts the team. Having someone like her on the bench is gonna be a big plus. I think I may have to disagree. In the ... what? 2 minutes?? ... she was in she had 3 swings, 2 Ks, 1 B. Hit .667. I wasn't her biggest or loudest fan last year, but I compare her stats and it makes me wonder whether she should see more of the floor and less of the bench. On the other hand, maybe it's easy to book those stats when you're not in the whole match and your whole home town came to see you. (And good on her for being such a spark for the team.)

Ohio University may be the only MAC team that has no/has not had a PSU alum on staff. Lol.

Holland hit .444 tonight v Hord's modest .333. She had 4 Bs v. Hord's 2. She also had those ACEs, went on a couple serving runs, and a couple digs. Thrilled that she's having the opportunity to prove herself.

In some corner of my mind I knew that, but another corner of my mind kept whispering "Maybe he's holding down two jobs, in case he gets canned at Ohio University?" That corner of my mind is one to avoid.

But on the other hand she was 1-1-2 hitting .000 against Georgia Tech and 0-2-4 hitting -.500 against St John. To be faire, she's not getting enough court time to really tell where she's at. Another thing, Russ plays people based on their practice. If they haven't practiced well he will generally not play them. (Not to say she isn't practicing well, just that others may be better than she is in practice). I remember back in 2012 in the NCAA semi-finals against Oregon when Micha (notice the correct spelling ) sprained her ankle. Kristen Carpenter desperately wanted to come in but Russ put her in for just a little bit until Micha's ankle could be taped and then put Micha back in. I was upset with him for a while. Then I realized that he may not have put her in because she hadn't practiced well and shown that she could come in and play well. Again, not saying that AC isn't practicing hard, just that someone may be, (in Russ's opinion), better overall than she is. The big if is, is the team that Russ is starting now the team that he will be going with overall. Who knows, and for sure he could change his mind. I actually would like to see her start. As others have mentioned, she has a really upbeat personality which is fun to see on the court.

Did anyone else think the UCF assistant coach was Geoff Carlson? If so, does that mean you hate UCF, knowing that you're not a big fan of Carlson? Just kidding.

And even got the comment in on the fashion choice. I thought they had ditched those jerseys. But maybe they've grown on me.

But I do have to comment on the "Todd Dagenais' UCF Knights" banner that was behind the serving line. One thing that makes me love PSU is that it's never called Russ Rose's Nittany Lions. Rose is as self-effacing in victory as anyone could be with 1300 wins. That banner leads me to conclude less than favorable things about the UCF coach. Not sure whether I'd like him more or less if he had hired Carlston!

I don't recall ever seeing anything like it in any college sport (or pro sport, for that matter). But Coach Rose commented on his long and amicable acquaintance with Todd, so who knows. But I certainly am glad Coach Rose doesn't festoon Rec Hall with Russ Rose banners!

The thought of Russ Rose banners everywhere does make me chortle, though.
Russ with a cigar! Russ with his rifle! Russ at the Creamery!
