These are some comments from the regular Monday confab hosted by Volleyballmag.com. Regular contributors are Lee Feinswog (editor of Volleyballmag.com), Selima Rockwell, Emily Ehman and Jen Hazelwood, along with occasional guests. Recent guests have been Jen Flynn Oldenburg, coach of OSU women's volleyball team and Jen Greeney, coach of Washington St women's volleyball team.
These confabs are held every Monday and are VERY entertaining and frequently quite funny too. The contributors have a lot of fun!!

Quotes from Jen Greeney:
"We went to S Carolina & Pitt in pre-season, (lost 3-2 & 3-1 respectively). The next week-end we went to UNLV and played them and Purdue, that weekend being w/o our libero, where an unexpected injury that popped up (lost 3-0 & 3-1 respectively). My husband is an assistant coach and does the scheduling; he's now sleeping on the couch. Then again, he may be sleeping on the couch for other reasons."
ON effects of playing spring/fall volleyball wi/o much time in-between. "Don't have the weight training/other training that normally get. Gone two years without that training. Who is this hurting most? The younger players; (not a big surprise)."
Jen Hazelwood comment re:Jackson St; "Jackson St is playing a 5-1 system with a setter that is .... 5'1". Their other setter got hurt so their 5'1" setter is playing around and doing okay. Jackson St is 16-12."
Emily Ehman; Emily gave props to Jenna Hampton on her spectacular weekend having 27 & 18 digs against the two Michigan schools. Emily ranked the B1G liberos and Jenna Hampton leads the B1G in games in a row with 18 or more digs. One of the Shondells (from Purdue) sent her a comment, "Are you ranking all of the liberos not named Otec (Jenna Otec is the libero from Purdue), as Otec either wasn't on the list or wasn't as high as he thought she should have been. Lee Feinswog mentioned that if you had a pickup game and could pick any women's libero, he'd pick Jenna. The rest of the people agreed. It's been so great to be able to watch Kendall White for 4 years and then be able to watch Jenna Hampton right after her. Jenna routinely has miraculous saves every match. (Yes, I know that a miracle isn't routine and so is a contradiction in terms. )
Comment re: Jackson St - Jackson St is playing a 5-1 system with a setter that is .... 5'1". Their other setter got hurt so their 5'1" setter is playing around and doing okay. Jackson St is 16-12.
They addressed the strength of the PAC12 saying, "It may be the strongest that it's been in a long time. People outside the conference may look at and say they aren't very good, (I'm one of those ), but the overall strength of the conference is up and there have also been a lot of injuries. Stanford had a 1-5 stretch which was partly caused by injuries; Kip Kendall, one of their best hitters was out. The consensus was that, when healthy, UCLA may be the best team in the conference.
Old comment re: Kendall White from the forum that shall not be named:
Talking about Minn Volleyball supposed lack of enthusiasm.
[(R)uffa - I don't get the "lack of enthusiasm" comments. You don't have to be Kendall White to play VB

Comment re: top volleyball teams, especially Texas
"Because Texas lost a match, it doesn't mean they're no longer the best team in the country; specifically talking about Louisville taking over the #1 ranking." (My personal opinion is that Louisville is over ranked. That and $5 will get you a Starbucks coffee. Those who've read my posts reallize how difficult it is for readers to figure out my opinion on things ). Texas [lost to Baylor on 11/6/21 3-1. Texas outhit Baylor .353 to.281 (go figure). Texas won all the statistical categories EXCEPT for service errors. They had 20 service errors for the match.
Comments on Purdue:
Purdue just finished sweeping WISC. Go figure. Granted, Purdue is a good team. But who'd have thought that WISC would lose twice to Purdue with the 2nd loss coming on WISC home court and breaking a WISC 38 game home court winning streak. In the 2nd match, Dana Rettke hit .045 and the team as a whole hit .128.
Many of the contributors thought that there might be 12-16 teams that could win the NCAA title this year. Interesting.
Something I heard a couple of weeks ago. At the time, Utah had 107 aces which is quite good. BUT, the kicker is, Utah only had 102, yes 102 service errors. I've NEVER heard of a team that had a significant number of aces and also had less service errors than aces.
Again, I highly recommend this show. It a lot of fun.
