With the exception of the Penn State loss the Big Ten rolled through today's action unscathed and take six teams into the round of 16. The only B1G matchup in the next round finds Illinois taking on Nebraska.

I don't know that it should have been viewed as an upset, but the Illinois win over #7-ranked Kentucky certainly was one on paper. Good job, B1G. |

The possibilities of an all B1G final four is alive and well, I will now focus my rooting for that, come on Ohio State, Illinois, Purdue, and Minnesota, and if all else fails Wisconsin, but I will never ever root for Nebraska.

I share your rooting interest against Nebraska. But it must be acknowledged that they have the best fan base in the sport. They do have the largest (possible exception of Hawaii) -- but best? I think that's open to debate -- very subjective. Also, on a per-capita basis (i.e. population of metro area) my guess is that Penn State's attendance from 2007 to 2014 may have equalled or even exceeded Nebraska's. (I really don't know, and am prepared to be wrong on that -- maybe even very wrong). I do think the Nebraska administration has given extraordinary support to its women's volleyball program. The new-ish facility, a streamlined transfer acceptance protocol, really high salary for Cook (I assume also for the assistants, but don't know about that), and taking a leading role in establishing an attractive NILs program (like it or not, that's going to have a huge impact on the ability to recruit athletes going forward). IF YOU'RE READING THIS, SANDY BARBOUR, PLEASE MAKE SURE PENN STATE PROVIDES THE SUPPORT ON ALL THESE FRONTS SO THAT PENN STATE IS COMPETITIVE WITH NEBRASKA! AND WISCONSIN! AND TEXAS! AND LOUISVILLE! AND OHIO STATE! I COULD GO ON! |

When was the last time the Regionals did not include HI, PSU, Stan? All out in Round 2. Stan was swept.
Other surprises: KS, which beat the big green O, then beat 14 seed Creighton. Now Pitt.
UT, which has been AVCA ranked much of the season IIRC from 10 down to 20, is also out.

I share your rooting interest against Nebraska. But it must be acknowledged that they have the best fan base in the sport. Yes, I absolutely agree with you they do. But my hatred for Nebraska goes way back to the 90s, and it has to do with football, not volleyball, but if I am going to hate an institution then I am going to hate all their sport teams. And while I am on the subject their volleyball team of 2008 took 2 sets from us, spoiling what would have been a perfect season, because they were the only sets, we lost all year, so dig deep enough and I can find a reason to hate them too. Oh, and by the way I am enjoying the way their football team is losing the last few years, makes me very happy. |

I grew up a Mizzou fan, so I've hated Nebraska since the 70s, back in the days of the old Big 8 Conference. |
