Many Penn State fans will remember Loyola assistant coach Bayleigh Hoffman, who played at Penn State for her senior season in 2018, appearing in 19 matches as a defensive specialist as the Nittany Lions went 26-8 overall and reached the second round of the NCAA Championships. The Greyhounds also have a freshman from State College on their roster, Kacy Sekunda, whose father, Glenn, was a college basketball player at Syracuse and Penn State before playing professionally overseas for 11 seasons.
Among key returning players for the Greyhounds is Katie Forsythe, who was named the conference's Preseason Libero of the Year by the league's coaches. Forsythe returns as the career record holder in digs (2,201) at both Loyola and the Patriot League. Last year, she led the Patriot League in digs for the fourth time, posting 582 for an average of 5.71 per set while earning All-Patriot League First Team recognition for the fourth time. Throughout her career, she has averaged 5.93 digs per set over 95 matches and 371 sets, a total that ranks her fourth all-time in NCAA Division I in digs/set.
