I swear, many posters on the "other" forum are so negative that if the score wasn't posted, you would think that USA lost today. I think they must all be Wisc fans; Carlini can do no wrong and Poulter can do no right. I'm not anti-Carlini. She's done a good job; Poulter didn't do anything good today; Turkey was just bad. Really??? Oh and I forgot, Karch is an idiot. Of course he is because he doesn't play the people that these idiots think he should. just reminding myself why I've stayed away from that forum. There are some people that have a lot of insight, but the negativity. Unbelievable. Yeah well. I have no one to blame for reading it but myself.  There's no point in mentioning any of this over there as it will just start a fire-fight that would just get me MORE upset. How does that line go? Nobody is so blind as he who will not see. Very depressing match. (Which is why I'm doing this write-up today and not yesterday). Serbia didn't win the match (they did play well); but USA lost it. As Karch said after the 2nd set, "We aren't executing". During one time-out he told the players, "just hit the ball, don't try to make a perfect shot."That was it in a nutshell. Boskovic was stupendous as usual, 20 pts in the first 2 sets, but that wasn't what beat the USA. They beat themselves. SO many errors plus the USA had a lot of trouble terminating (reminiscent of PSU in the last 4 years huh?). USA lost the first set 22-25 in spite of having 4 aces and a multitude of service errors by Serbia. It didn't help that Franti wasn't 100% and came out midway thru the 3rd set. The middles, Washington and Ogbogu were missing attacks regularly. Drews wasn't playing all that great. USA went on a big run in the 3rd set that gave them the set 25-19. But that didn't carry over to the 4th set. Same old same old. Errors and more errors. Almost like they were playing scared. Oh well. Wait till next year (VNL). I'm a Bears fan; I'm used to wait till next year. On a totally different thought, I watched hilites of the USA vs China match in the 2018 Women's World Championship. Talk about a turnover in personnel. USA players in that match; Larson, Barsh-Hackley, Foluke, Robinson/Courtney liberos, Kim Hill, Karsta Lowe, Kelly Murphy, Micah Hancock & Carli Lloyd setting, et all. The only two players that were on the 2018 and 2022 were Robinson-Cook (but as an OH not a libero), and Sarah Wilhite-Parsons. P.S. Robinson-Cook had a pretty good match, though almost half of her points were in the 3rd set that the USA won easily. I didn't look at the stats right away and can't find them anymore. I dislike the way the volleyballworld.tv site is set up. It doesn't seem intuitive to me at all. I'm always fumbling around on it. Oh well. Hopefully other people find it a bit easy to navigate. |
