Meanwhile, the attendance of 2,389 is absolutely pathetic. Half a mind to send a harshly worded message to the athletic dept for not doing a better job of getting a better crowd. The ice hockey match today could have been a few hours earlier at least. The ticketing gets all screwed up for these NCAA matches. Not saying you're wrong here, but all the loyal season ticket holders who have shown up for matches are, in effect, told they can's have their regular seats. I believe the band can't come because it would be "unfair" to the other teams. And the wrecking crew can't get its normal spot. So there are alot of built-in impedements to good turnout.

Okay. I get, though don't agree with, Twitter marking Zoe's interview as "potentially sensitive content" because she used the word "kill." But what the H is potentially sensitive about this all-video message?

I agree goldengoal it's silly. What it really shows is how many people are totally ignorant about volleyball terminology. A number of years back, after a Regional Final in Louisville (I don't remember who Penn State was playing or who they beat) I exited the arena carrying my "Kill" placard (it either had "Ace" on the flip side or "Roof," I think). The arena is in an area of Louisville that is fairly deserted at night, and as I'm walking along, flapping my placard, it occurs to me that perhaps it isn't wise to be flashing a sign that says "Kill!" So I folded it up and walked the rest of the way back to my hotel.

Doesn't show that. Shows a profound problem that has emerged this week with Twitter. Not just volleyball content but all kinds of innocuous stuff.

A short PM on the face-off between attackers Williams and Melville.
Yes, Melville had 20Ks, Williams 15. So, yes, Melville hit her astounding 5K/set nation-leading standard.
But Melville had 11 AE, Williams 4. Her own errors there led to an attack balance for this matched pair in PSU's favor by 2.
Williams outhit Melville by >100 points, ~.268 to .161.
Williams slightly outblocked 2-1.
Of course, for each, what counted was when they made their Ks and Es, and their teammates. 3 of Melville's hit >.330.
Weatherington and Elisaia at the right pin averaged >.550.
PSU MBs averaged >.380.

There was an issue converting the stats to the box score last night supposedly, but I believe the stats on Penn State’s website are correct.

The band was there, but half the size of the group they bring to regular season matches. Our best crowds are on football weekends, when there are lots of sports fans in town looking for something to do, and when high school teams from around the state come to catch a match. So no football in December at home affected the crowd size, but I think the bigger issue is no easy way to attract youth teams to attend. With NCAA first round hosting being a last minute decision, all the high school teams come when they can buy group tickets far in advance, and so with just a few days notice, I don't think it's easy for those teams to arrange to attend.
