Anyone else feel the coaching staff is not serving the amount of talent this team actually has ? Not I. Unless you think the bench players are better than those on the floor-coaches can't pass set or hit. The talent is not executing. So you feel everyone at the same time is under achieving ? I mean I know passing is the base and start for everything and that is very poor but… some part of this in my opinion has to do with coaching. cliques / cancer in the clubhouse .. something.

What's sad is that the match wasn't this close. Good pt by announcers; PSU kept LOU offence down, but PSU couldn't put the ball on the floor at all.

Well, Dani and Katie warmly embraced each other. How nice. Not.

I think coaching staff should stick with Markley. Her block is still an asset even is she is not hitting well.

Poor passing is an understatement — tons of free balls. Louisville also up played better defense. That team has grit. That team doesn’t smile after a ball hits the floor with two players staring at each other. That team plays likes PSU team of old. How and what PSU volleyball used to be.

The receiving last year wasn't great, but wasn't bad. The same players are back this year and playing markedly worse. I don't have an answer for that. Also, Mac hasn't, to my way of thinking, been what has been advertised. Even with not so great passing, the setting should be better than this. If I could figure this out, I'd be coaching not watching I'd be really interested to hear the viewpoint of a volleyball coach looking from the outside.

I've mentally checked out of this season. It feels like some of the players have, too.

What's interesting to me isn't Mac's talent but her grit. Over the last 15-16 years, we've had times when other teams have had our number, but I can't think of a time we've pulled our setter. Can't think of a time our setter hasn't just dug down and persisted.

Agreed. Serve receive from the same two -three players is for sure worse. Stark played a lot of serve receive last year and not this year. I thought this was good thing, as I believe she was forced to play that role last year but wow something has happened and it is not good.
Would love to hear Russ on this team. I know it will never happen but it sure would be interesting.
Stark doesn’t play much at all this year. I see her and her sister jump on a different ship next year.
SAD. Penn State. Be better.

Would love to hear some responses. Is this team THIS bad ? Right now-yes. Other than blocking the team is below average at all necessary skills. Because it is a team game, changing one player affects all players. In my opinion the biggest issue is the setter. Last season we had plenty of problems but the setting was decent. This year sets are very inconsistent so the hitters are struggling (looking worse than they are). This can be fixed but I have been surprised at how slowly it is coming along.

When you look at the receiving by LOU and their digging, both were elite. The LOU players were flying around in the back row. That was part of the reason that PSU was having trouble getting a kill. Typically, the team that is out hit, out digs the opponent. But when PSU is out dug 50 to 30. That's rediculous.

On multiple occasions. NO grit. No drive. NOT just her but seems to be a lot of this team.
