So this was night turning into day. Setting was MUCH closer to what I was expecting coming into season. Mac bettered some not so good passes, and was on target nearly all of the time. With better sets we got to see how great Jess really is. She hit tons of impossible shots - lines and wicked angles from off the court. Those shots can only be made if the sets are in the right places. The slide sets were nearly all good too and so-Allie hit for a high percentage. Even allowing for the opponent this was good to see.
Serving was only so so but passing was ok and Starck did very well as a tall DS.
Was curious that Maddy did not play. Cassie took her rotations and did pretty well. Hope Maddy is ok.

Anyone know why Bilinovic and Weatherington havent been playing? Are they hurt? I get the impression that KSC likes Grimes better than Bilinovic and that Hannah is producing more pgts from the right side than Zoe was. Edit: I think that the highest that Zoe has hit this season is .240. Most of the time she's been substantially under .200. I just hope that things improve for her. I also get the impression that KSC wants to establish a starting lineup and go with them so that the starting PSU lineup gets comfortable with each other. As far as injuries, I believe it was Willow who was sporting a soft brace on her right knee. Didn't seem to slow down her practice...maybe more for insurance/assurance. Bilinovik put in a full warmup and was chugging H20 after. Looked totally ready. There was one kinda unexpected sub: Quinn Menger. IIRC subbed in (after some confusion) late in 2nd for Mac. She serves leftie and I think KSC may have something up her sleeve there. Since she's done setting in spring season, we did have a setter on the floor...tho at first I didn't catch that. |

Oh-did anyone else notice that Quinn served for Mac? I guess Quinn was to be the setter? (turned out that there were no sets needed). When our National team tried this, the Libero was the setter.
