I don't want this to be misinterpreted, because I am a HUGE fan of Zoe Weatherington, as a player (when she's on) and even more as a person. The problem is that as a player she has gone through pretty long stretches where she is blocked repeatedly and/or hits out. At the end of last season, she had excellent matches in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament. But against Wisconsin, she had an absolutely terrible match -- in five sets, she totalled 11 kills, with 12 attack errors, on 32 swings for a -.031 hitting percentage. And zero blocks. Cam Hannah has performed significantly better this season than Zoe did prior to the switch to Cam. Much as I love Zoe's powerful kills, and blocking prowess, I prefer Cam. Totally agree. After too much coffee, I have a few observations. Watch Zoe's reality TV thing they put up yesterday. Watch her interviews from B1G media day. She couldn't be a more perfect teammate or rep for PSU volleyball. But what comes to mind about her being on the bench is all the RR data-driven decisions on who's the best fit tonight. Saw it w/Carp. Saw it in the early days of Simone Lee where he kept giving her brief chances and Lee just wasn't there yet. (until she was. And I think that's what the coaches look for in practices, to help inform their gametime decisions.) For those of us missing seeing Zoe succeed, I remember during our early losses someone was saying, "I want to see Cam." To me, it says what great fans we have here...we don't reserve our love for our stars. We love our bench, our subs, our frequent subs, our almost-never-subs. But let's take out the emotionalism*. Hannah earned 17.5 points for the team last night. 15 K; 5 BA. Her 17.5 points trailed only Mruzik (22). Holland posted 11.5. No one else reached double digits. For the season appearing in 42 sets, she's at .280 hitting. She's posting 3.20 points/set, 2.69 K/s, 1.02 AE/set. Zoe appearing in 26 sets this season is at .162 hitting. She's posting 2.15 points/set, 1.65 K/s. 1.00 AE/set. Jojonito mentioned RR saying you have to play with who you've got. I think he'd also say you have to rely on the stats you've got. Not what we want to have. * A great if not best Avett Bros album

Also the coaching staff sees the players in practice/scrimmages for far more time than fans watching a game. You have to believe the coaching staff always uses the players they feel give them the best chance to win.

I know that Zoe has had problems being blocked. Maybe I'm not remembering very well, (happens all the time ), but I thought that Zoe, toward the end of the year (obviously not the Wisc match), had improved quite a bit in that respect. And when she was on, she was a terror. Without going back and looking at the matches, Iit seemed to me that she was more consistent than Kash at the end. However, regardless of that, this year has been terrible for her, not sure why, and I hope she figures it out. You're right, Hannah is a much better option now.

Don't get me wrong. Hannah is by far the better option this year. No question about that. I never said that Zoe should be playing in place of Hannah. Zoe has been struggling to be average. I'm not wanting Zoe back in the lineup playing like she has this year. I just had remembered her improving quite a bit last year and really miss seeing some of the missiles that would come off her hands. P.S. Also, Hannah has had her problems being consistent also. She hit .375 against ILL and then .000 against MINN. (Not her only poor hitting percentage). It would be nice to be able to bring in Zoe in those instances. But that's not gonna happen, considering how poorly Zoe has played this year.
