PSU had 11 blocks, but taylor and zoe only had 2 which is not too hot in a 5 set match.

What a great win! All around everyone stepped up and never quit. Jess was great! Shoutout to Maddy who ended the game with the ace. They iced her with the timeout and she ultimately delivered with the biggest serve of the season.

Just watched the final set in full on YouTube (can't get ESPN In England). Didn't know the result so was watching it as if live. Phew, I'm almost glad I couldn't watch the whole match - what a nerve shredder that must have been for all you guys over there. On to Wisconsin. Great win in November but unlikely to be able to repeat it away from Rec Hall, but in sport nothing is certain. Wisconsin will feel the pressure having already lost to us and the crowd will expect a home win, adding even more pressure. The Lions should adopt a 'nothing to lose' attitude - enjoy it and give it everything so that whatever the outcome they will know they couldn't have given any more. Good luck!!!

I’d pay to see a MB set right about now. ESPN is happy to take your money!

For Maddy to send over a walk-off pinpoint knuckleball to end the match is something in sports I will never forget.

Break in action as cleaning up blood on floor. Blood, sweat and tears ....

We’ll make strange serving substitutions, but not try anything different to slow down the KU outside attack. In game adjustments, or lack there of, make zero sense. Respectfully disagree - Coach has been quite innovative as demonstrated by the double sub at the end of this set. When you are being crushed is a good time to try something different. Those kinds of things seldom work for anyone, but when down by 10, why not? But until a set is out of hand, why wouldn't you keep your best group on the floor and expect them to play well? Using Menger as a serving/setting change of pace through the year was worth a try. It worked once or twice, but just as often did not. Still, Quinn showed over the Summer that she could run an offense, and she is quite a decent server. The OH was changed 3 times this year because what we were doing was not good enough. Even late in the season, when Cam was not getting it done (usually in passing) Coach adjusted (using Starck). In this match we saw Zoe hit from different spots which has been shown only occasionally during the season. Slowing down Ms. Cooper seemingly is not possible. She is after all a conference POY. The block was good in this match, but Cooper was extraordinary. I was glad to see that she did not play back row because then she might have had 35 kills.

I also found last night to be effectively coached. It's tournament time so the number of players seeing the floor is very narrowed down to whom KSC believes gives them the best shot to win.
My wife and I discussed how Van Eekeren, Markley, and Menger were put in at the end of the 4th. We agreed it was basically a decision to wave the white flag and give a couple players a minute to breathe. Podraza had made a few mistakes and seemed to be gassed/rattled. Give them a chance to collect themselves for the 5th, which obviously worked in retrospect.
The other notable substitution was when Starck served for Hannah, who had 4 service errors in the match. Her serve is awesome but still a little erratic, so the substitution felt like a smart move to me. I get nervous every time I see Hannah back in serve receive, but she mostly held it together. Mruzik and Grimes are covering 90% of the court on those rotations, but teams are still targeting the right line.

I think it really did help some players play better in set 5.
