Week 2 Rankings to be released on Monday (9/9).
With impressive wins over #4 Louisville and #9 Kentucky + a win over a very gritty Ball State Team, where do the pollsters put PSU in the Week 2 Poll?
For reference... #1 Texas, #2 Nebraska, #4 Louisville, and #6 Wisconsin all lost a match this week. Vote above!
And any guesses on how the Top 10 (or Top 5) will look next week?

I voted #3, but it will probably be #5 because Rob Browning, Dave Shondell, and Kelly Sheffield will all vote us #117.

I think that Browning is the guy who leaves PSU off his ballet in most cases yes? I haven't followed the coaches individual voting in years.

I just dislike them, so chose to work them into the bit.

If we take into account best win, # of win, quality of wins, where the wins were etc. I think it should be:
1. Penn State Well this is our team of course it's no. 1 lol. Bias aside, we have 3 good ranked wins against 3 teams that have played fairly well so far and themselves have won. Best win is Louisville and Kentucky both teams with a winning record. Only benefitted from a home environment once out of their 5 games.
2. Stanford Has 2 ranked wins over B1G teams. But if we take their wins in context it's less impressive cause Wisco hasn't won all that much (TCU is their sole win as of writing this) and Minnesota has that marquee Texas win but can't seem to stop taking teams to 5. Also now in the same boat as Wisco with a 1-3 record. Also swept Marquette. Never played at home but if you've seen Stanford's home environment they're happy to not be at home.
3. Pitt Now I might eat my words in a week or so but they're the most untested of the three. But they look really good. Their only good win is against a questionably ranked Oregon team and 2 unranked teams, Long Beach and Buffalo.
This is my case, Rob Browning will now rank Penn State below St. Mary's (CA).

My guess -
1 - Stanford (jumps over Pitt due to having better wins) 2 - Pitt (Gross) 3 - Penn State (better wins than Stanford/Pitt but I don't think voters will let PSU jump over those two) 4 - Nebraska (bad loss to SMU but they've look better since that loss, and WVB bias for Nebraska)
Out of the Top 10 - Florida (lost to unranked USF)... Possibly Texas (lost again, this time to unranked Miami on Saturday night)

What’s the Rob Browning connection to PSU, why does he have so much animosity towards the team/school?

What’s the Rob Browning connection to PSU, why does he have so much animosity towards the team/school? It's actually not just to PSU but last year when votes were public to everyone, you can see that his ballot is the complete outlier. Ranking low ranked teams 10 spaces too high, high ranked teams 6 spaces too low, and more egregious for us PSU fans, just leaving out PSu. He also somehow puts in his own school in there.

Interesting, there should be some kind of auditing system for outlier poll voting. Kind of like throwing out highest and lowest and then averaging…

Rankings are very fluid at this point, as we know. But, realistically, who among us thought we would be unbeaten right now? Doesn't really matter, because clearly the players and coaches truly believe and are playing like it. They're very good and motivated, and so fun to watch. Ranked #1 or #7, they're coming for everyone.

Interesting, there should be some kind of auditing system for outlier poll voting. Kind of like throwing out highest and lowest and then averaging… If all 64 ballots are cast, outliers don’t matter too much. And outliers also produce some information about teams on the cusp of rankings. Where I agree is that some of the ballots evince animus. There was one coach a few years back who omitted PSU every week. Statistically didn’t matter. Ethically, tho….

Some predictions here are surprising to me. I really don't see any scenario Pitt is not #1 in the AVCA poll. My predictions: Pitt#1. PSU#2 beyond that it's anyone's guess.
