It's not the effort some of us are questioning, it's the court awareness that she may not have. She hits amazingly well, so it's hard to point out things she could do better. But, she is not quick footed and sometimes that shows in her lateness to close the gap in blocking. With Megan and Aiyana gone now Haleigh has to really step up her and become the leader of this team So, in other words, not lazy. Just a more limited skill set. That can be worked on. No one is calling anyone lazy. As I mentioned, her role just got whole lot bigger with Megan and Aiyana done with their college careers. So, she will have to do even more than this year to compete with other top B1G teams next year. Our expectation of her is high, so some of us will poing out the areas we want her to improve. We want her to be the leader of the team to the higher ground.

Too big a deficit for this team. No way they come back. I'll miss Courtney. In your opinion then, was Haleigh to blame for our problems this season? Just wondering! I've felt most of the second half of the season that something was missing.

You are all welcome to critique, however the wound for all of us is pretty fresh.
Picking apart our issues can wait.
My humble suggestion is to sit on some thoughts for 48hours and digest the game and season.
It might avoid typing something we would all regret in such an emotionAL state.

I've felt most of the second half of the season that something was missing. In my opinion, no one player was to blame this year. This team needed a very good libero and better setting accuracy and speed of sets. Offense was slow. Finally, serving was not consistent, which allowed opponents to run their offense more efficiently.

I'm already looking forward for next season. I'm just being optimistic here. Do you guys think the constant lineup changes hurt the teAm?

I am curious to see who becomes the new RS hitter, and a whole lotta other things.
Next season just started. You should start the first thread.

I'm thinking lazy might be the term you're looking for. yikes, that's quite an accusation. I know we're all frustrated, but questioning the effort level? Haleigh is anything but lazy. I don't think she's been 100% (just my observation watching her move in warmuos, not inside scoop). We s hold all take deep breaths. Friends don't let friends post when they're disappointed.

Hindsight is often 20-20. It looks like we got caught up with HS press clippings and now find out some of our players were over-rated and could not play the way we have become use to at Penn State. The worst part is that these over-rated players will still be here for a few more years. Naturally it isn't the players' fault and the coaches are only human but we really need an elite recruiter more than we ever did before. The clock is now running.

Despite my poor word choice, I don't necessarily think the players are overrated. It think they learned what Coach Rose had been trying to teach them. Now they know how much more they have to grind. Last year, they had four seniors who had felt the pain in 2011 and 2012 and helped them along. Now, they know what they have to do to advance and they know they have to lead.
It will be interesting to see what the team looks like next year. I'm expecting more intensity.

Sasha21: Please tell me why you think we can be optimistic about next year? I think we may have set a record this year for the number of times we were swept in one season. Plus now we lose two of our best players to graduation.
