You know you can delete or edit your own posts. I only just learned how to use the "quote" function. I am old and do not do social media. Still learning. But your avitar says you are just a freshman. You are still undergoing freshman hazing. Where's your beanie??

NEBRASKA wins it! They are the 2015 National Champs. The trophy stays in the BIG10 family. BIG10 family indeed. Nebraska is just another interloper, like us. Joining was a huge mistake for Penn State in every regard except, perhaps, WVB. And perhaps, wrestling, mens' basketball, hockey, and a few other sports!! I was silly enough to think Penn State would walk all over Big Ten football when we first joined the conference. Who knew?

The Hawaiians sure know how to support one of their own. I'd like to take a moment and apologize to all for anything I may have said which upset them. I would also like to bid everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I will be taking a break for a while, but look forward to hearing some good news come out of camp in the spring. Adieu and have a Blessed New Year!!
Right back at you! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours!!!

The school lost its identity as an Eastern independent and by not joining an Eastern conference lost its many long-standing, organic (not quite the right word) rivalries with schools like Syracuse, Maryland, West Virginia, NC State, and others to be replaced by nonsense like the Land Grant Trophy rivalry with Michigan State. Only half the teams in the Big 10 even play hockey, and PSU had a vibrant and competitive club program even forty years ago when I was a student. What brought that sport varsity status was Pegula $$, not joining the Big 10. The argument that the conference aided the wrestling program is also specious. Penn State's recent rise is due virtually solely to the arrival of Cael Sanderson, who is likely to surpass Rose's number of national championships by the time the latter's new contract runs out. Certainly our most dominant national team, fencing, wasn't aided at all. I do not believe any other Big 10 schools even field a team. Men's volleyball didn't get much of a boost either. Penn State is a neglected stepchild in the Big 10 and is unlikely to ever be anything more.

Think of all the money that PSU has lost for its sports PROGRAMS since joining the B1G. NOT. Times change and those "golden" days of which you speak don't exist anymore for athletic programs who are not a part of the big 5. While I think Cael is an unbelievable and impressive person he is ALSO very much helped with the recruiting budget and exposure in the B1G that he would not be afforded if we were in the Big East or Atlantic 10. Period. We are not Notre Dame with its private contract with NBC. Hockey and Lacrosse are very much regional sports still and it takes time to tap into the NorthEast and Canadian......or European territory. I wonder if anyone can name the last 5-8 NCAA Champions for Men's Ice Hockey? $10 Not. Now with the B!G getting into the sport even more......all that means is more talent spread out in a sport that really doesnt have the depth to do that yet. 2015 Providence (26-13-2) Nate Leaman 4-3 Boston University Boston 2014 Union (N.Y.) (32-6-4) Rick Bennett 7-4 Minnesota Philadelphia 2013 Yale (22-12-3) Keith Allain 4-0 Quinnipiac Pittsburgh 2012 Boston College (33-10-1) Jerry York 4-1 Ferris State Tampa, Fla. 2011 Minnesota Duluth (26-10-6) Scott Sandelin 3-2 (ot) Michigan St. Paul, Minn. 2010 Boston College (29-10-3) Jerry York 5-0 Wisconsin Detroit 2009 Boston University (35-6-4) Jack Parker 4-3 (ot) Miami (Ohio) Washington D.C. 2008 Boston College (25-11-8) Jerry York 4-1 Notre Dame Denver We are fine just where we are and with new leadership in our flagship sport ( I predicted in 1 year change from Franklin) and full restitution of our scholarships we can be in the conversation again in 3-5 years like the 1986 squad. Yes I'm talking Football. B1G was the BEST move for our Athletics imo.

Still recovering from our being swept by Hawaii. Should have never happened.
I detest Nebraska due to Cook's arrogance but was rooting for them only because they were BIG 10 over BIG 12 and Texas had that home cooking reffing like they always do(in other sports also; these type of calls are not new) that helped them get to FF instead of Florida. Not a fan of Elliot either.
I do have a question though. How was it allowed for the words "Omaha" to be in red and black (Nebraska's colors) to be on the court? I thought the Final Four courts were supposed to be neutral and having red on the court in Nebraska, who was allowed to make THAT decision. Even if Nebraska didn't make the final, it looked like they wanted to make it look like a Nebraska home court as much as possible. I guess it wasn't enough that they had 15K fans, they had to do this also.

I seem to recall Paterno expending quite a bit of effort trying to form something like a conference of eastern schools. I don't think any of the other schools wanted anything to do with it--if it included PSU. I'm no lover of Big 10 traditions like Woody Hayes and Bo Shembechler. And in that I'm not a PSU alum, I see PSU picking the Big 10 was the best deal they could get. I like it better than the ACC, and I don't know if they ever made an offer.
It's good for PSU to be in one of the Big 5 conferences and it's probably the best one to be a member of. I wonder how WVU enjoys being part of the Big 12?

My memory is slipping a bit, but I remember when JoePa was putting in overtime to get the Eastern "powers" set up with a conference. I also 'seem' to remember that the deal breaker was our perennial poor showing in Men's Basketball. The basketball powers (Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia) wanted no part of Penn State in their conference, and Pitt especially made some really negative comments which created the rift between Pitt and Joe Paterno. You will all remember he would have no part of Pitt for just about all of the rest of his tenure!! I may not recall the details exactly the way they went down, but I think that's the gist of it!!

About the only thing PSU and Pitt share is mutual dislike.
