Eagles fired Chip Kelly. Wow! I didn't see this one coming, at least not in week 16. Anyway else get blindsided?
I have a feeling there is more to this story behind the scenes. In hindsight, I wish they would've hired Bruce Arians. He's the class of coaches to be hired in the past 5 years. Another very good play caller is Sean Payton, if he ever were to leave the Saints.

I lived in the Philadelphia broadcast area for about 20 of my "formative" 25 years. I liked the Flyers and Dr. J's 76ers, but never warmed up to the Iggles (although I liked Concrete Charlie in retrospect) or Phillies. I feel your pain. 1960 is a long time ago.

The 49's hired former Eagles coach Chip Kelly as head coach today.
The Eagles fired Chip Kelly to get a head start on the coaching carousel. In the meantime, all the interesting prospects are getting hired, the Eagles are still looking.

On purpose, or did it just come out that way?

The Eagles were really keen on at least one maybe two coaches whom they interviewed; however, they were hired by other teams almost immediately after their first interview. It seems to me that the Eagles ownership is dragging their feet and will end up with another college coach who they will fire after 3 seasons. Eagles ownership/administration is turning into Jerry Jones of the Northeast.

Here is news!!!! Steelers have had only 3 head coaches since 1969. All three have won at least one Superbowl. Chuck Noll(69-91); Bill Cowher(92-2006-retired); Mike Tomlin - (2006-present)! Why is it so hard for these other owners to hire a coach that lasts no longer than a roll of toilet paper?
Chuck Noll was hired only after Joe Paterno turned the job down! Can you imagine how Joe would have been as a Pro Coach for the Steelers?

Not official yet, but it looks like they are going to hire Doug Pederson, OC of the KS Chiefs who has been under Andy Reid for many years. I think the Steelers organization (owners/admin) is the class of the NFL. Would've loved to see Joe Pa coach them. I didn't know that they were considering him, that's some interesting trivia info.
