We'll have to hope the "up" portion coincides with their visit to a high elevation locale.

I actually think North Carolina is a better teams than we expected. Obviously their plan was to shut down Frantti and Washington and they were very successful. Once they noticed our block disappeared they teed off and found holes in our defense enough to win on the road. We underestimated them and it costs us the match but we will keep getting better. I just hope we don't get into a setter controversy.

I attended all 3 matches this weekend, and also saw parts of the other matches. Good crowds overall. Pep band, like the team, was enthusiastic but needs to work on execution.
Had the pleasure of sitting next to Lainy Pierce's grandfather for UNC. Very nice and distinguished gentleman. Along with a bit of family history, I learned that this year the team is wearing new shoes, having ended the affiliation with Adidas. Lainy indicates that the current shoes are more comfortable. Didn't seem to help in the UNC match.
I observed that we had trouble with one rotation, with Frantti, setter and Washington in front row. Same server and same blockers for UNC in each set for that rotation. UNC ran off strings of points on that rotation in every set. We came back each time we got out of that rotation. Put differently, maybe failure to adjust to that repeated problem situation that was some of the "poor" coaching alluded to in the press conference.

Well one very obvious observation; it is much easier to see what is going on in person than with any other form of viewing. I did not have to rely on the choices of a camera person to keep on eye on player movement or to track which players were in which rotations. Of course one does not get replays, but ....
