www.volleyball.it/notizie.asp?n=124581Google translate: "I closed the Rio2016 Games with the bronze medal, which followed the Scudetto with the shirt dell'Imoco Conegliano, the US director Alisha Glass announced farewell to volleyball. Among the reasons [for retiring is] her desire to accompany boyfriend, Josh Childress, basketball player and the "will to live a normal life." Great player. Great Penn Stater.

She had a great professional and collegiate career. Let's hope she's replaced by another Penn Stater.

Kind of sad; I wish her the best. To me I don't feel sadness, I feel empathy to a athlete who is looking to a new chapter in her/his life. That chapter can be extended along with her professional career or it may take her down a different path. Living abroad, as much as the team tries to add comfort and $$, wears on you and relationships are strained. I would image for a woman of 28 it could be even more difficult (family, marriage,motherhood.....and even wear and tear on your body. She may go back and may find an even medium to continue her play but I would say she is probably excited to see what this year brings.
