A Moment of Contemplation
It’s hard to believe that 15 years have passed since 9-11-2001. It’s worth pausing to contemplate what we lost, and what we’ve learned. Mrs. Nyline and I were both in Manhattan that morning — I was about 1/4 mile from the second tower when it went down, and Mrs. Nyline was in her midtown office trying to ascertain whether consultants from her firm who had meetings scheduled in the World Trade Center were OK (they were). This morning, she told me that she believed the best way we could honor those who were injured or who did not survive, was to be mindful of our good fortune to have some commonplace we enjoy in daily life. In our case, it was morning coffee. We shared a pot, counting ourselves lucky that we could go on with the rest of our day. Weekend Wrap with Talking Head
After three losses in a row, Penn State needed positive performances against Siena, Hofstra and Syracuse. All things considered, they got them (though the coaches, being coaches, undoubtedly can point to lots of things that need to be cleaned-up before the B1G season opens in two weeks (or before next weekends matches, for that matter). We spoke this afternoon with Talking Head, who played D1 volleyball and has coached for many years, about his thoughts on how the team performed. For the complete interview, Click Here.

Nice to know you made it out of NY on 9/11 safely, scary moments I'm sure. My sister used to work at World Trade Center Bldg # 7 (up through 2000) and she was in Manhattan on that day, as was my uncle (who almost died trying to hide in a subway which ended up getting flooded, luckily a nice fellow guided him away from there). Is that a real building in the article photo? It almost looks fake. I was looking for the reference which you usually post at the bottom to find out, but to no avail.

It's a picture I took of the new World Trade Center when it was still under construction, in 2013 or 2014, right after Christmas (thus the lights).

As I may have written last year, I had gotten off my MetroNorth commuter train at 125th Street, where I caught the no. 6 subway to 77. As I walked East on 75th, Engine 39 was scrambling. It never occurred to me that they were answering a call so far downtown. Still making the same commute and always remember if my walk (depending on lights and traffic) takes me to 75th. As we were driving to a Red Bulls game today I asked my daughter if she had any memories of 9/11. She said she remembered a PA announcement in her school that there was an electrical problem and no one was to turn on the TVs or computers. Then at the end of day, a number of kids were called to the principal's office. Thanks, NYLINE for the remembrance.
