We've discussed Coach's ?unprecedented? use of multiple DSs in the back row for more than serving. Is that what produced this stat, from the team's website?
- Penn State has excelled defensively this season, limiting its opponents to 0.091 hitting -- good for first in the Big Ten Conference and second in the nation. I don't know, but I like that stat. If only we could maintain it till the end of the season.

And so it begins...BIG/BTN is broadcasting IL v PU tonight at 7 EDST on cable.Someone had asked or opined about just how good PU is. This may partially answer the question. Wow! What a nailbiter of a match. Tied at 2 sets a piece. Starting the 5th now.

my Xfinity recording ended 2 hours in...so i haven't viewed the end yet. I was left hanging w/PU trailing in the 4th, and i figured they had thrown in the towel. Seemed clear that Shondell was disappointed in set 2/3 at the team sort of falling apart. been there.

Watched IL beat Purdue and we will have our hands full playing IL. Someone has to step up and be a consistent scorer. Expect the Illini to serve Frantti every chance they get and for them to attack Detering when she is in the front row. My interpretation of what RR said was the team that wants it more will prevail tonight.

While I think Frantti has gotten better at serve receipt, I worry that increasing responsibilities exacerbates her offensive issues. I wonder if coach might consider subbing her out even more than he has done thus far, or return to the two receiver approach we have used sometimes in the past.

While the team was very much error free last night and stats were impressive (ie. 10 aces) , I'm not convinced that we will really see a test of our girls until the Michigans next weekend. Northwestern seems to have some some holes to fill and doesn't have much firepower this year. Certainly don't want to overlook them and come in unprepared ..... I won't say it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Frantti stay in the whole match. To your question, I don't think we will have an idea until 1/4 into the season where Coach goes with passing besides White, Frantti and Holcomb.

IMHO, the first 2/3 of the second set was awful. also noted that there were not the number of DSs we saw last week, which I think led to less than stellar floor coverage. I know we ended well, but the 2nd set v Rutgers was regrettable.
