We're about a month away from any official announcement. But I can confidently say that we'll have 4 on this year's team.
1. Megan Courtney: will be her 3rd B1G Preseason Team, NCAA Tourney Most Outstanding Player 2. Aiyana Whitney: All B1G honorable mention, Second Team AA 3. Ali Frantti: All B1G honorable mention, B1G Freshmen Team, Second Team AA, National Freshmen of the Year 4. Haleigh Washington: All B1G Team, B1G Freshmen Team, B1G Freshmen on the Year
Also I wonder where the teams will place on the 2015 Big Ten Preseason Poll?
My top 5 are:
1. PSU 2. Nebraska 3. Wisconsin 4. Illinois 5. Michigan State

The information that follows each player are honors from last season, and in Courtney's case before. I understood your top 5 just fine. It will be interesting to see if the B1G coaches vote PSU first. After last year's B1G player of the year selection, I think there might be a little animus directed at PSU.

Yes, your understanding is correct. The information following each player was to support or justify this case. It would be interesting with these selections, to not have PSU at first.

What I can't remember is how may players the B1G selects for the pre-season honors; and if they select 1st, 2nd, 3rd teams--you get the idea. The four players you've named are, without a doubt, PSU's best returning players. While I have no doubt they'll do well in the coming season, I think it's the unnamed players who hold the key to how successful the team will be. As a fan with absolutely no knowledge of what's transpired in the off-season (save for what I learn here, on the PSU site, and Volleytalk), I'm waiting for the season to start and hoping I can watch a lot of the games on the net.
