I don't know which players hold PSU's 12 scholarships. I'm pretty sure no one graduating this year has one, so PSU probably doesn't have much to offer to improve the team for next year.
Going into next season with the team he has now can't be an exciting prospect.
What does Coach Rose do?
Retire and turn things over to Salima or someone to be named later?
Double down with the players he has and go into 2017 and confound all the naysayers?
Take a page from the "Cook Book" and cancel some marginal player's scholarships so he can bring in some new blood?

There is always the unknown. That is, how much will the current roster players improve over the course of a year? Look at Simone Lee, she had a really good training regimen during the off-season and she got much stronger and it's showing this year. I think Frantti (and maybe Reed, Thelen, and Novakovic) could use a good training regimen in the spring. I also see a healthy setter rivalry brewing between Abby and Bryanna heading into 2017. Can Rivera and the other setters also get into the mix? Who knows, but it will be interesting to see what happens. One thing is certain, all the top teams in the conference this year will lose some serious talent. So, even if things stay the same, we should be more competitive against them.

I don't see any current players other than Detering and Weiskircher playing any meaningful minutes at setter for Penn State this season or next.

I actually think we have enough talent to win and Rose will use another year to bring out their best performances. Whatever the coaches told the players prior to playing Nebraska works and can continue to propel us into the tournament. I think we could be the best team next year.
