did he just get too carried away after set 1?
BTW, look at the set by set hitting stats for each. Very interesting, even for our set 1.

Well, I hope Nyline can get something about what helped the team reverse their poor performance in set 1.
I was starting to dread a fourth set swoon.

We did get a little home cooking in this one. It wasn't enough to be a determining factor, but I get the coach's angst. |

Well, I hope Nyline can get something about what helped the team reverse their poor performance in set 1. I was starting to dread a fourth set swoon. I won't have anything formal until probably tomorrow at noon. But the short answers: Coach Rose said it wasn't that we weren't blocking in set 1, it was that they were hitting great (.560 in 1st set). Haleigh Washington said we were setting our block too high, and Pitt's setter was setting a low ball, which they hit very aggressively (and effectively cross court all throughout set 1). After set 1, we adjusted, with the block lower, and that was effective. More tommorow. Oh, and Kendall White loves playing in the tournament. And Coach Rose thinks Pitt's setter is short, but terrific. I agree on both counts (she is listed at 5-7, and is very smooth and a real leader). |
