We've posted an unofficial 2017 Roster for the Penn State Women's Volleyball team (and spruced up a few other things on the site -- like getting the final B1G standings with AVCA Poll results up on the main page. Here's a link: Unofficial 2017 Roster

Will PSU pickup any Illini refugees? Off season, we can dream. Why not?

Will PSU pickup any Illini refugees? I had the exact same thought when the news came out. I can dream that we will get Poulter.

Aren't we kind of stacked at that position now and in the future? Actually, after thinking about it some more, it might not be too unrealistic to think that we might be getting one or more of their OH or Opp commits for next season and beyond.

Well, scholarship-wise, we're pretty stacked at setter too. Plus, this is dreamin' we're talking about, so in my dream, Bastianelli converts to RS, wins 2nd Team AA honors, and helps Penn State win its 8th NCAA title!

And if there's not an open scholarship, does coach have serious discussions with some "marginal" scholarship holders in a manner other coaches are said to employ?

Since he always makes decisions by what is best for the team, I say let them forego their scholarship for one year.

Since he always makes decisions by what is best for the team, I say let them forego their scholarship for one year. And there's the rub. How it might feel to be asked to give up a scholarship that you expected was going to be good for four years? I don't know, but does Coach Rose offer this type of commitment? If he does, I doubt he's the type of person to go back on a commitment. Makes you wonder what the mix is between skill and luck when it comes to offering scholarships.

Then again sometimes players are just looking for the opportunity to play. When it becomes clear in their present situation this is never going to happen and given a chance to move elsewhere while still being on scholarship it can be more than a win win for all involved.

We all hope for win-win resolutions. One wonders whether harsher decisions are needed to bring more success?

SUCCESS WITH HONOR I SUSPECT IS VERY MUCH APART OF THR ROSE CODE.

Considering the minimal turnover between seasons, I believe you're right.
