Found this clip of Bryanna Weiskircher talking about her volleyball experience on the trip to Brazil. (YouTube). Great find. Thanks!

Who knew...there was also a BIG foreign tour? Tori Gorrell tapped to rep PSU. Occurs in June.

A recent trip update (#8) from Haleigh Washington discussed playing five sets against the Brazilian Junior National Team and that it was the most competitive volleyball they've faced in their Brazilian trip. That's interesting. What's missing are scores, or any indication of how PSU did. I'm not sure whether PSU should dominate because the other team has a 19-yesr-old age limit, or they should dominate because they're representing Brazil's best.
I am pretty sure that Haleigh's not mentioning scores was by design.
Thoughts?

But I think they're not really approaching these "matches" with that mindset -- they obviously want to play well, but I don't think it's really as formal as a best-of-five.

I agree that the games aren't about winning. I can see that playing five sets (not best-of-five) is a good way to make sure everybody gets time on the court. I need to read more carefully as I missed any indication of who got to 25 first. Haleigh did mention, in the version I read, that PSU was able to respond to any runs by the Brazilian team. I guess I'm willing to take it as a good sign that the team did well against Brazil's junior National Team.

Everyone gets some playing time on this trip. Lineups vary quite a bit.
Sidenote NC State and Purdue are off on their trips to Italy

(I assume not, but wondered) The Boilermakers will play six matches during the tour. Opponents will include the Czech Junior National Team, the Croatia National Team and the Israeli National Team along with two Italian Federation teams. NC State will start the trip in Rome before traveling to Florence, Pisa and Milan prior to concluding the experience in Venice. The Wolfpack will play a total of five matches during its tour of Italy. No mention of each other on their web sites.
