Long-running threads are one of the fun things about message boards. I believe the venerable "Future of Stanford" thread on Volleytalk has over 500 pages and has run since ...? (you can tell I don't plan these posts--please don't interpret as a sign of disrespect) The down side is when the thread's subject morphs to another subject. I'm sure there are rules of thumb which can predict, based on the number of actual and potential participants, how long it takes a thread to "go elsewhere." We've been most fortunate that few DigNittany threads have gone to the Nazis.* Then again, we're blessed by never having veered into politics. And, like so many blogs I've veered off my original topic.
The point I was trying to make: The "Roster" thread is a recent example of a meandering thread and I was wondering if Nyline's slacker staff might be able to create a "subheading feature" for threads that might highlight some of the new issues being addressed on a long-running thread.

Slacker staff = No substitutions, no add-ons. Actually, nice idea, but unlikely to appear soon on your neighborhood message board.

Sometimes, giving adults an opportunity to explain the facts of life is a raison d'etre in and of itself. Here's hoping the work week brings all of us some joy.
