Hope everyone is as excited as I am! My son (almost 14) and I have had a tradition for several years, of predicting our top 5 teams, then comparing them with the NCAA pre-season poll. What follows is a list of my top 5 and my son, Louis's, top 5. Love to hear what others are thinking!!
Dad:
1. Stanford
2. Nebraska
3. Penn State
4. Texas
5. Wisconsin
Louis:
1. Stanford
2. Wisconsin
3. Penn State
4. Florida

Even though they have an elite freshmen for this year, until Stanford is able to beat Penn State without Inky in an early season match up, they should not be ranked above Penn State. As all the teams have new players replacing those who graduated, Penn State should be given the benefit of doubt as the current national champion with great hitters ready to go at it again. Thus, here's my take on the pre-season top 5:
1. Penn State
2. Stanford
3. Wisconsin
4. Texas
5. Nebraska

Penn State ranked #1 in AVCA Preseason Poll. Here's the link: AVCA Preseason Poll 8-12-15
The American Volleyball Coaches Association has released its preseason poll. And, for what it's worth (which isn't a lot, given the number of players who graduated from last year's top-ranked teams, and that no one has yet played a single regular season match) Penn State is ranked #1. Here's the link to the AVCA's poll: AVCA 2015 Preseason Poll. Rounding out the top 5 were #2 Stanford, #3 Texas, #4 Florida, and a tie for #5 between Nebraska and Wisconsin. Illinois came in at #8, Ohio State at #14, and Michigan State at #19.
