While I personally would have liked to see some of the backups play, I understand why coach played the starters, or at least I think I do. It was the home opener: #1) you want to win it, bigly, and #2) the fans want to see the stars in action (not backups). Gee, if you feel that way, then why even let the backups dress for the match. Believe me - the friends and relatives would have loved to see the other team members play. Ironically, the better your backup players become, the better practice partners they become for the starters. Iron sharpens iron is an expression I have been told. Personally I enjoy a competitive match win so much more than a blowout - but that is just me. But these college teams are not playing for you, me, friends, mom or Dad. They are playing to win for their team.

Maybe they could multitask. As long as we get the "W" is the score differential something that will keep us up all night? Please humor me.

Actually, the Wake Forest match proved my point. You say how many backups got playing time in that match.
