Hope the Football team can do better than this Me too. But have you noticed how the big plays that were key to success last year are missing? The defense is better, but...

The worst part of this loss is that we were out-played in so many ways that there is no easy fix. You can bet Minnesota and Wisconsin and even Purdue will be studying this match since it exposed all the weaknesses of our players. A match like this makes you wonder what the coaches did to prepare for last night. John Cook made Russ Rose look like a has-been coach who has lost his way. I couldn't have been more discouraged by our performance.
A team with two head coaches and two setters may have an identity crisis from time to time. I have to believe we will learn from this and move on.

They played circles around us. So disappointing. Simone Lee can't be our everything. Along the same lines, it seemed like they were playing relaxed; almost like a low-intensity warm-up. Much of our scoring seemed to require Herculean efforts--like that string of back row hits from Simone. We couldn't sustain that level of effort and Nebraska would just go back to playing "picnic volleyball" and pull away.

We could not mount any....any sustained pressure in any ....any aspect of our game. They clearly had our number last night and we could never gain traction. Maybe if we had pulled out game 1. Maybe but seeing how Nebraska played so efficiently in game 2 and 3 and we actually got worse Im not sure it would have made a difference last night. Nebraska was better last night. Key words = last night. The team is far more capable than what we saw and they know this too. We will rebound

They're not "comfortable" to contemplate, but after a "performance" like that, one wonders whether our personnel simply aren't good enough or whether they weren't properly prepared. That was a beat down and no amount of varnish can make it look like anything other than what it was. Let's see what happens next.

Seriously, this team was great in 2014 and not so much now. It started five seniors and one junior. I don't believe in coincidences.

Didn't Washington and Frantti start in 2014?

Coach Franklin inspires the football team to excellence. I know they will give 100% effort. I'm not questioning Coach Franklin and I'm not questioning level of effort. I'm talking about execution. And yet Coach Franklin always says that "it is my job to prepare them to execute". Obviously the team wasn't prepared to execute Friday night against Nebraska.

Didn't Washington and Frantti start in 2014? Yes they did. What do you really think happened to our team last night?

I thought you were saying that the 2014 team also started four seniors and a junior. I misunderstood. My mistake. What do I think happened to PSU last night? I think they were soundly defeated. I'm getting the feeling that you're really upset and you believe there are some systemic problems at PSU that account for these shortcomings. That's going to be a tough sell on this site. But, I could be misinterpreting what you're getting at.

I'm going to go over to the "Off Topic" thing and start a catch-all football thread.
