Since Jelena is mentioned here I am one very interested to see if Russ will give her opportunity to display her skills. I know PSU already has several top hitters in the line up, but I do think Jelena's international experience can be a great addition to the team. I know many of us do not think either Jelena or Tori will have chance to play much, but I am for one who think either or both will surprise all of us with their pay if given the opportunities.

Russ gives everyone an opportunity to earn playing time. If Jelena and Tori earn it, they will get their court time.
Jelena is a hard-hitting southpaw, so she can bring something to the court that the other pin hitters can't. It's also possible RR will redshirt her, as we do have plenty of effective hitters at the pins.
Given the depth at MB, I would not be shocked to see Tori on the court at some point unless she completely disappoints in South Gym.

I don't believe that Novakovic came here from Serbia to have the coach redshirt her so I expect her to play later in the season. I think Russ was telling us that the lineup will depend on how well Thelen performs. I expect to see the coaches trying various lineups to see how effective they are.
