Funny observation. Last year, I saw Stanford and Penn State--the best programs ever. This year, I saw the team ranked 334 in the RPI.
It's still a fun sport to watch, at either end of the spectrum.

I agree! I myself, love to watch a good 5 set match no matter what their ranking. Women's VB is huge here and we get to see quite a bit of high school VB on TV to include championships so I have an idea of what the talent looks like that may go to play for Hawaii's college team the following year after they graduate from HS. |

This shows you how fluid the RPI is:
Today the RPI changed for a couple of teams to include Florida. I see this as either their opponents wins and/or their opponents opponents wins that have made some movement in the RPI on Tuesday night. I think this is reason Florida moved up one. Their opponents opponent is Northern Iowa which won on Tues. So it's easy to see even if you don't play a match you can move up or down in RPI on a daily basis. The teams that didn't move still may have either lost or gained points; just not enough to change positions.
The top 30 teams that moved either up or down on Tues were:
#2 Minnesota moved down to #3
#3 Florida moved up to #2
#4 Texas moved down to #5
#5 Kentucky moved up to #4
#14 Purdue moved down to #16
#15 USC moved up to #14

We moved from .7436 to .7440 so we did move up slightly in points. The other 4 teams in top 5 either lost points or stayed the same as was Kentucky's case. The now current #7 Nebraska did gain some points but Stanford gained enough to pass Nebraska from their win. |

1) Saturday again, is it?
2) Wow. Stan loses to PSU and doesn't get punished at all. Purdue loses and drops 7 spots? Something else lead to this fall?

Purdue's lost to all (or most) of the B1G's top teams over the last couple weeks. We all hope to be 21-1 at this time next week. |

For Purdue losing all those spots. They have lost their last 2 matches. Thru this week, Stanford has dropped one position in RPI but came back up yesterday. The drop and rise happens when you look at their wins and their opponents and opponents,opponents w/l for this past week. Same with Purdue, they didn't drop all at once this past week but dropped each day(starting Wed) to place they are now. They other thing that really hurts Purdue is that they lost to Ohio State(opponent) who in turn lost both of their matches this week. In this case Ohio State dropped so Purdue will also. Had Purdue won both of their matches this week, then they wouldn't have dropped that much in one week. |
