I suspect they were cutting & pasting from the previous week! Thanks for pointing that out!!
BTW, for those of you counting, this is Washington's 3rd this year. Labor Day, last week, this week.
and one more thing: Mt. Washington is the highest point in US east of the Mississippi.

Another well deserved award for Washington! Numbers for a great MB is in the .400 range. She's in the .500's!!

I've seen pretty high % numbers before, but not w/20 K! and 8 blks all in one match... Lohman, who got the defensive player PoW award, averaged 4.5 K/match over the last week, compared to Washington's average 15K. And hit .250 and .400 for the two matches. Washington: .500 and .588. Lohman posted 17 blocks over two matches, and Washington came close on that.
All in all, I've been very impressed (and scared) by Lohman many times we played her. But comparing the two, this week, it's clear that while Lohman is a good defensive player, Washington is much more productive all around. So happy for her success and recognition.

A back row attack is required in women's vb these days. We have not had that until this year with this squad. Now we can help relieve the pressure on the outsides and with Haleigh beginning to show diversity in her attack then we will continue to be challenging to all we face. Haleigh's results also indicate that our back row problems are lessening and may not be as bad as this forum insists.

Colorado Springs is within sight of Pike's Peak, but not at the base. For five years, I lived within easy walking distance of the Pike's Peak cog railway station and the start line of the Pike's Peak marathon, so I know what I'm talking about.

I'm not sure I understand your comment about not having a back row attack "until this year with this squad." Are you referring to this squad as identified as the post-2014 squad? Or do you mean ever for PSU? PSU did set Lee with back row attacks last year and in 2015. I know PSU employed back row attacks 2010-14. Generally speaking however, I believe back row attacks are becoming more common each year in women's volleyball.

To be precise, Manitou Springs is at the base of Pikes Peak. If we view that part of the Front Range as the Colorado Springs metropolitan area, the metro area comes up to the base of Pikes Peak.

Courtney was well regarded, as i think McClendon was, for the back row, pipe attack. I think the 2014 semi win over Stan included probably 3-5 from Courtney, if my foggy memory serves. Very similar to what we're seeing now from Lee and on occasion Frantti

My own feeling is that Frantti especially has been really good in defense and our setters have been very solid as well. I may lack sufficient understanding to see what could be fair adverse commentary, but it sure looks like the back row has done pretty well.

My reference is to this squad, last and now this year not to other times and only to the attacks from behind the three meter line.
I believe we have seen improvement in the floor game that allows for more diversity in the offensive game in my opinion.
Was it not true that over the last 3 seasons opinions seemed centered on poor setting, poor defense from the back row players and lack of height in our front row.?
I am suggesting that those capabilities have improved.
Regarding Miss Washington she arrived with great fanfare and the expectations that she would make everything go all PSU way. It did not happen for reasons that I am not able to evaluate but cannot help but feel that she seems to be fulfilling those expectations during the current season

Daily Collegian reports Washington has 960 Ks on her career. The prediction that she'd make the 1000 mark this weekend seems a little optimistic for any player, let alone a MB. But I'd expect sometime this month.
