MSU is a very formidable opponent, so I think we should be thankful that we played well enough to end in 4 sets.

What a gritty comeback from set #2. Way to go girls. We are.....Penn State.

THelen played a solid game. Her attacks had some real power. Nice blocking, seemed to be relishing her contributions.

As was mentioned in NY/TH's pre match Joust , the MSU team doesnt do well when the points dont come quick and easy. PSU's touch blocks and defense to transition was the difference.
Washington was outstanding from beginning to end, Frantti steady and Lee , as often she does, got stronger as the match wore on.
Thelen had a nice match taking advantage of the smaller left side block.

Looks like everyone, Lee included, was making attack errors in set 2. I was unable to watch; just looking at game flow, I'm assuming we didn't all of a sudden become a lesser team. I'm assuming after the 25-18 set 1, MSt figured out something critical and got us off balance. Curious for those who watched, what you might have seen that allowed MSt to turn tables in set 2.
Yay for our team doing it in 4 vs. a highly regarded, rising, dynamic team.

In game 2, Penn State hit .069, with 6 attack errors. In game 2, Michigan State hit .452 with 3 attack errors. I thought Michigan State played great in game 2. We played a mixture of sloppy and OK.

I think Lee's problem in set two was she wasn't getting good sets due to being out of system and she tried to get kills from way off of the net. Don't remember how many of her shots like that got blocked. Maybe would have been better off hitting over block with roll shot or tip. As for the match, we are in for a fight in the BIG this year and other than Rutgers (won 1st set off BIG 10 team today against Michigan), all the rest of matches will have to play hard and not let up at all. If we play like we did in set 1, nobody will beat us!!

When big serving teams get up early in a game they can be emboldened and the game can be irretrievable. We were on our heels early in that game. I suggested we throw away that game and never speak of it again.
