So watching both matches this weekend we did see the WILL, the SURGE and the GRIT that we have thought this team needs to achieve their ultimate goal. While this was at home we also know that this team doesn't have seem to have a hesitation to go on the road. It was nice to see Cami May come in for some PT along with the very brief sightings of Holcomb and Pierce in passing and serving roles. I am a bit concerned and I do hope that the coaching staff is cognizant of rest and extra work for Frantti/Lee and our bench for starters.
Coach eluded to Frantti looking worn out in the MSU match and we cannot....cannot go that road in November and December. Yeah I know we all look at Simone as a workhorse who gets stronger as the game wears on but she has never been asked to carry the passing, defending and offensive load so much in her career. At every level in every sport there is this concern/management of your starters in preps for the post season. Both Pierce and Holcomb have been positive players and are doing their job but I'm a little concerned that we will need them MORE on the road as things tighten up and we will need to give our OH's breaks (mental and physical)
That being said, outside of the last week of the regular season, I don't see many back to back games and that Minn/Wisc is the only tough back to back weekend, so this should help. While I'm sure our bench is getting some touches in practice I sure would like to see some bench players get some more game touches for rest/experience and the general health of the team. We cannot grind these players down. Indiana 2x, Rutgers , home against Maryland and maybe Iowa would be optimal situations to see players like Powers,Putnicki, Pierce and Holcomb get some much needed work and Ali and Simone some rest.
B1G title would be nice but that is only one of the teams small goals imo
