We're hoping for a great crowd tonight in Rec Hall, and a great crowd on the DigNittanyForum for those who can't attend (you can watch on ESPNU or stream on WatchESPN) We've posted quotes from Coach Rose and Talking Head, both pre- and post- East Lansing and Rec Hall matches against Michigan State. Click Here for the article. Here's an excerpt: Coach Rose Comments: Michigan State Matches

The only team that can beat our PSU ladies is themselves. The team identity is a tough-serving, tall, physical team with major talent in all skills, that doesn't commit many errors. If they stay true to themselves, their potential is unlimited, against any opponent. Stick to the game plan.

Even though PSU beat MSU 3-1 twice this season, some of the VT members states it's a pick'em kind of game. I think MSU is a very good team and would root for them against any other team in the elite 8, but as long as we play the way we've been playing for the last couple of months, PSU should prevail. i'll go for another 3-1 win

The overunder would in the range of +10 for PSU being at home. it would be the biggest upset in a long time.

My only real concern with Sparty is their tough serving. If we can receive serve well and pass off those receptions, we should win. If not, we might not get another crack at Nebraska this year.

Check out my ELITE 8 - STAT COMPS thread: forum.dignittanyvolleyball.com/thread/600/elite-8-stat-comps-editionSurprisingly, MSU does NOT have a serving aces/set differential advantage over PSU. Also, PSU makes much fewer errors than MSU on their serves. Observations (significant differences; from the thread):1.) PSU has a 0.093 attack efficiency % differential advantage over MSU. 2.) PSU has a much lower serving errors differential (over the year) over MSU. 3.) PSU has a 0.94 digs/set differential advantage over MSU. 5.) PSU has a 1.09 blocks/set differential advantage over MSU. Advantage: PSU (much stronger defensively and more efficient offensively).

What does this mean? "They won't lose because they are tight." Forgive my denseness.

What does this mean? "They won't lose because they are tight." Forgive my denseness. They might lose a match, but if they lose, it won't be because they let the pressure get to them -- i.e. because they "get tight." It would be for other reasons.

The USC/Florida match will go too long, we may not see ESPNU after PSU lead 2-0
