To my amazement, the Slacker Staff assembled this morning in front of the hotel Mrs. Nyline and I are staying in, and presented us with a gift and what they impishly referred to as "an ancillary item." The gift was the promise to do our dishes and clean our room at the hotel. Admittedly, not the most lavish of gifts (given that the hotel already does that), but it was an offer in the spirit of Christmas, and the card on which it was written had a nice photo (see below, from Alta, Norway). The ancillary item had two parts: 1) they asked that we thank all the Forum participants -- posters and viewers -- for their contributions in 2017 to lively discussions and informative posts. They acknowledged that they are the richer for it; and 2) on the subject of "richer," they asked, yet again, for a pay raise. We thanked them for their gift, promised to pass on their kind message, and explained, patiently, once again, that it is impossible to give them a pay raise because they are not paid now, so even doubling or tripling their "wages" results in zero pay. But to their main point (or what we are taking as their main point): Thanks so much to all of you. Love, peace and volleyball. Mr. and Mrs Nyline

One of my favorite Christmas cards had a generic seasonal statement on the card's face, something like, "Wishing you the special joys that come with the Christmas season." Opening the card, we find a picture on an ice cube surrounded by a puddle and the caption, "Frosty would have wanted it that way."
Merry Christmas to all of you. It has been a banner year and I look for even more fun in 2018.
Thanks Nyline and everybody who makes this the best volleyball site.
