Is there a good reason why the schedule has to be such a mystery? Yes there is, but we can't tell you that either. Just kidding.

Yes, there is a good reason:Russ wants it this way! Not sure why knowing now is ssooo very important I think fans like to know so they can discuss upcoming matches. I don't think it's a bad thing for people to ask.

Is there a good reason why the schedule has to be such a mystery? The reason is very simple -- and it really has nothing to do with Coach Rose: the schedule can't be finalized (and released to the public) until the B1G finalizes its schedule. The final schedule (both pre-conference and B1G matches) then has to be approved by Penn State's faculty senate. That's not a quick process.

Hey, I'm a true blue believer in Coach Rose and our wonderful team. I don't even know what a faculty senate is, but I don't like them potentially holding up something as simple as approving the schedule. The B1G schedule doesn't start until the end of September or thereabouts. So, just tell us the matches in August and September. Do we know that yet? Interest and discussion about our team should be highly encouraged, especially given how very young it is this season.

I agree the process is flawed, but it's the process that Coach Rose and his staff must follow. Given the number of other schools that have released their schedules, I'm guessing there's an announcement fairly soon.

I would guess a volleyball schedule is not a top priority for the Faculty Senate and rightly so. Penn State as all institutions of higher learning should place academic matters higher on the list. What does it matter whether the schedule is released this month or next?

It does have a real world impact on the players' families that want to plan for lodging and transportation for matches they want to attend. And, somehow, magically, the football team schedule is released -- with some gaps -- several years in advance.

I suspect the players and their parents are aware of the final schedule long before Russ releases it.

What does it matter whether the schedule is released this month or next? Many fans have to travel...not just hop the activities bus to get there. I have never seen a PSU home or road match that I didn't have to come from out of state. So I beg your pardon of the commenter that didn't know what the big deal is. If you want to snipe at PSU fans, go ahead.
