One day at a time, we will get there, One day a time. I've heard of 12-Step programs that offer the same advice.

What's up with Gorrell? Going into the season I thought she would be our best MB.

Meaning no disrespect to anyone, but it seems as if Gorrell is no longer a starter. I doubt that anyone inside Coach Rose's circle of trust will confirm or deny. Let's hope she's ready to fill-in effectively when she's called.

Hord continues to be very impressive, regardless of the level of competition. Could she be an AA as a freshman? She's a blocking machine. I think the team is averaging over 3.5 blocks/set. That's a number we haven't seen it a while. Scary to think what they might become over the coming years. These freshmen are incredibly talented players with the athleticism needed to make plays and keep the ball in play on long rallies. Exciting to see their tenacity like the first set versus Howard to come away with the victory. Then to see Cathey play for Reed and get the job done speaks volumes for developing depth. I like where I believe this team is headed this season. Go, State!

Is it possible that American had a solid defense if only for that game?

Re Gorrell, I would not write her off despite the good work done by the newcomers. She, Gorrell. has experience and that is not made up by just athleticism.

I’m still trying to understand why Nia Reed didn’t play this weekend. 🤔 (Can the fans get the answer?) Coach Rose certainly has the benefit of the transfer and super Seniors’ experience. Gorrell will be a needed piece of the puzzle. And she has the experience, skill and attitude to contribute wherever needed, MB or RS. Rose doesn’t make a lot of adjustments once Conference play begins; so this will be one to watch. Gorrell made plenty of clutch plays her first two years in the court. We need her. And I’ll say now: hoping Tori stays for her Super Senior Season!

It looked like Reed suited up for Buffalo but did not play; did not suit up for AU. She looked jovial; i suspect there was a game-time decision in the early match having to do with maybe a pulled something or other. The floor was super slidey at Howard, and I wouldn't be surprised if there had been someone twisting an ankle or knee in that mess. The field house felt just like Rec Hall used to in the days before AC...not so long ago!! Thanks to Sidearm Sports, y'all also missed an incredible band and crowd. The entire crowd got up and really got down, so to speak. Quite a moment.

Was at the American match, first time seeing this team in person (and hopefully not last, but probably!)...
The team wasn't playing at its best, but with so many freshmen, that's to be expected (especially on the road in tight quarters after playing another game earlier). Parker is strong player (tournament MOP), but the team will need her to continue to play at a high level in all facets of the game, like Megan Courtney. The team, like every elite team, will learn the importance of really showing up at every game, but these are problems every PSU squad has at some point.
The loss of Reed was VERY evident. I think it was a great learning experience for Cathey, but the loss of experience was apparent. Lots of scrappy play (and a lot of missed double contact calls).
The team may need to clean up tip defense. Reminds me of Karch calling one of the final fours after a tip was dug saying "that's not going to fall on Penn State." Hopefully, we can clean that up a bit.
I haven't seen Russ as angry as he was at the end of the 3rd set in a long time. Looks like it was directed mainly at Gray and seemed to have something to do with a missed substitution? Not exactly sure, but he was out of his seat and yelling at the team during a match point for AU, then, turned his attention to the refs.
We'll learn a lot on Wednesday!
