Another tough set. The hitters are struggling to get around or through the block. The youngsters are going to learn a lot from this match. Let's see if we can take a set.

MN take set 2 by a score of 25-21. They lead 2 sets to nil.

Samedy, I understand that she is a very talented player; but I am sure why Rollins is so successful against our defense

Our momentum is gone. It is going to be a long season but next year should be a little better.

I predicted 6 losses on the season and this match along with the Stanford match were 2 of the 6.

Why did we still have a TO at 24-19?

Hitters missing too many opportunities. When Minny has a chance, they don't miss. This is why we need Nia. Some of our ladies maybe lost a little confidence? Hopefully, they will put this one in the rear view.

A few observations in no particular order:
- I feel like the first set is very similar to our first set against Stanford. There was even a point where I think we were leading by one point or two that Minny's libero set a ball over to our side but Kaitlyn just misjudged the ball, same as the game against Stanford where Serena missed an overhead ball. We probably should have won the first sets in both games, but I guess that's the lessons to be learned. - I don't understand why Brianna seemed to get away completely from our middles in the 2nd and first part of 3rd set. I felt Kaitlyn had a pretty solid first set but she did not get many balls at all in 2nd. It made it a very difficult job for our OH's. Jonni definitely lost a little bit confidence during the match. Our OH's sent too many roll shots to them and Minny was well prepared for it. - Minny's transition game was just much better than ours. I started to notice that after they dug a ball up but the setter/libero needed to set the ball from almost their baseline, the set was usually within a couple of feet from the net and very hitable for the attackers. On the contrary, our set was usually too far away from the net or too far off the court so our attack was not very effective. The ability of Minny's setter/libero to get any ball to the hitable range really impressed me during the game.

I agree with rainpoolps regarding the first sets with Stanford and Minny. I felt that our ladies had super energy in both of those sets, and were able to stay with (and lead) two of the top teams this season. But we lost momentum in both matches with a mistake at critical times in both matches. The margin for error against excellent opponents is just so small.
I also agree that some of the sets did not help our hitters. It is my opinion that the best setter to hitter combo we have so far has been Weiskercher to Reed. That could be due to familiarity, or maybe Nia is a little better at adjusting when the set is not always where she hopes it will be. Regardless, we really need Nia and I am convinced that she would have helped last night.

Last night I hope they take as a learning experience and move forward.
