After breaking the winning streak of the Evil Empire of the Corn Belt (not its real name) Saturday night, with a come-from-behind 5-set win (25-22, 11-25, 24-26, 25-23, 15-9), the 15-3 (6-2 in the B1G) Penn State Women's Volleyball team sits in a three-way tie for second place in the Big Ten race. We've posted Penn State's schedule for the remainder of the regular season on DigNittanyVolleyball.com (with TV/streaming coverage noted where known to us -- you can click the images in the table for more information about the teams, the venues and the media coverage). Here's the link: www.dignittanyvolleyball.com/the-rest-of-the-season-upcoming-matches/The image below is only a partial listing, obviously, and without the links. But my slacker staff enjoys doing it, and one should never, ever, discourage a slacker staff!

So.... you're saying that looking forward might be a good direction for our attention?

What I want to know is how (if at all) everyone's projection for the year has changed, now that we beat Nebraska at least once?

I didn't make a projection--having had no "feel" or even an inkling as to how the team might perform. Now, I'd say that I think one of the 16 seeds is realistic as is making it to the Sweet 16. Beyond that? Lets see how things go over the next 12 games.

You'd almost be fly-like if you could get a hold of a mirror ball. Been called worse than that ... today. Besides, a crystal ball works better for pick the winners!

On VT, the RPI Futures has us with 7 losses (which I think is what it was before) and #11:
Those 4 losses would seem to be most likely to come from @ Nebraska, @ Illinois, vs. Minnesota and vs. Wisconsin. Can we snag wins from any of those? I'm sure we can, but it won't be easy. @ Nebraska and vs. Minnesota will be the most challenging.
And it also assumes we hold home court against Purdue and Michigan, and win @ Iowa...which isn't the "gimme" it used to be. Will be fun to see how it all shakes out. I hope the team gains more confidence, which I think it will, and continues to improve. And get healthy.
Other teams will have their own trajectories as well that will come into play.
I'd say Top 16 seed very likely, Top 12 very probable, Top 8 if we have a great second half. But keep in mind it's more about playing well (and the draw!) than the seed.

Excellent summary. By the way, all honors to you regarding the response about teams jumping 5 spots in AVCA after 3-2 win home win!!!

I think we lose the Nebraska and Minnesota matches.
I can see us beating Wisconsin, they just haven't looked good this past month. Illinois is the toss up, in my book. I feel like we match up pretty evenly.
As long as we don't suffer any more injuries and have any more OSU-type upsets, we should be good heading into the tourney.

I am no expert at all, but it seems to me our defense this year is a lot better, Jenna and Kendall remind me of Dom and lacey. I don't know if I am correct in that observation, but that's the way I see it.

I just found it so surprising in a great way. My recollection was that Quillico and Fuller spent a lot of time/years on the sidelines before being a regular sub.
Hampton was out on the floor from day 1 not as a sub for a player having trouble defending but with a dedicated slot in the rotation. Astute coaching decision IMHO.
So impressed.

Fuller was pretty much the #1 DS sub for three years. Quilico transferred from Boston College and immediately got a lot of playing time.
