I'm not surprised the OSU took a set off the Huskers.
I was surprised. As pointed out OSU has 4 players out. They are playing with a 5'6" OH. At the moment they are not at the level of Nebraska. With a full roster healthy they would be better than what they are now.
While Lexi Sun is playing well, I expected her to be even better. I thought she would be able to dominate. This is a kid who in eight grade was playing on the USA under 23 team.
OSU 2018 is one of those tricky teams that seem to lull you with their subpar performances then put together some nice runs here and there. Also, OSU at half strength and Rutgers are still playing B1G teams every weekend, so the players are accustomed to the competition.
I think too much pressure/expectation is being put on Hames and Sun to bail out the Huskers this year, which is not an easy task. The only surprise for me is how poor Jazz Sweet has been considering how well she played in her rookie season. Even Foecke is not as consistent this year as she was in previous years; someone mentioned on VT that she lost some weight (I don't know if that's affecting her).
Maloney and Strivrins are playing the most consistent, and you can't win consistently with only two top players at their peak every night.

I was happy to see Jazz Sweet play better in the Minn match (even tho she plays for the dark empire!). My impression of her is that she is her own worst enemy and is down on herself a lot. She seems to need someone to be encouraging her all the time (at least this year.) I hate to see a player having such difficulty (so long as she doesn't improve against PSU!)
You're right about Foecke. She hasn't been as consistent this year, maybe the change in setters? Actually, it might be the receive game. I don't think it's been nearly as good this year as it was last year.

From what I've seen, Lexi Sun has been inconsistant. Against PSU she was their best hitter. Against Minn she was 8 9 38 & against wisc she was 10 10 50. So hitting zero or below. I've seen times when she was dominant. Go figure. Might be still adjusting to Neb, or could be that Hames is inconsistant and Sun is having trouble because of that. Well, Lexi better get adjusted and focused this week because, as most of you undoubtedly know, the National Cornhusking Contest (www.cornhusking.com) is finally over for this year -- it was held on October 20th and 21st near Flandreau South Dakota. So Cornhusker fans are both fired up (who doesn't get fired up about the Cornhusking Nationals?) and focused (it's alot easier to focus with the distraction of the National Cornhusking Contest behind you). All eyes will be on the Nebraska volleyball players. I'll avoid any "ears" jokes.

MR MODERATER: You say the freshman setter for Nebraska IS WEAK AND IT SHOWS. Could you detail the weaknesses that you see, please I'm not sure what comment you are referring to: Millennium posted in this thread that, in his opinion, Nebraska is overrated, writing : "Yes, they're a well coached team and don't make many mistakes, but... 1) they have a freshman setter, and it shows." I think that is a much different statement than that the freshman setter is "weak." The only other comment I recall about Hames was by Talking Head, who said "Nicklin Hames, is good, but she’s no Kelly Hunter — at least not yet. Hunter did the talking, she backed it up with her performances, and everyone else just jumped on her shoulders. The Huskers miss Kelly Hunter." That also doesn't suggest she is a "weak" setter. If there's some other comment you're referring to, I'm interested in seeing it.

Illinois just beat Nebraska at the Devaney. Woot! I'll take it... I needed some good news.
Well my new #4 is Illinois. PSU and Nebraska dropping to 9 & 10.

And crickets from the usual Nebraska posters. 😳 So much for that no-loss season many predicted.

I told Huskerjen (I think it was her) on VT that I don't care if PSU losses the rest of their matches, as long as they beat the Huskers twice.
I better get ready to start eating my words. LOL!
