I know, but OSU has dropped off of late. I was amazed that they took a set. I was too. If I were a Nebraska assistant or manager, I would have been reluctant to accept a mint from John Cook after the Huskers dropped that set.

Washington State swept Utah--I know many have been clamoring for that result.

I'm not surprised the OSU took a set off the Huskers. OSU has good players; their problem is that they don't play motivated half the time. I watched part of that match, and there were balls falling to the floor on the OSU side, which no one was going for.
Also, the Huskers are overrated. Yes, they're a well coached team and don't make many mistakes, but... 1) they have a freshman setter, and it shows; 2) their passing and hitting is not as good as last year; and
3) IMO they are suffering from a post-championship slump.

There you go, Millennium. Bringing well-reasoned, cogent analysis to my dumb-arse wonderment. Rather that feeling inadequate, I'll soothe my battered ego by believing I'm serving as a catalyst who helps stimulate higher-level discussions.

NW beat Iowa in 5 at Iowa. 15-8 in the fifth. Only NW 2nd win in B1G this year. The B1G is such a tough conference. At this point, one has to view both Iowa and Northwestern as teams that could give Penn State problems -- particularly given that we play them both away (and Iowa after what certainly will be an emotional match -- one way or the other -- with Nebraska, the night before).

OSU winning a set against Nebraska was a surprise. BUT, we've all seen an underdog do that for 1 set. OSU was flying in the 2nd set. But then couldn't keep up the emotional level after that. They really didn't believe that they could win. (They were also out-athleticced. ) That's why I was happy to see PSU continue to play hard for the rest of the match after they had come back and lost the 3rd set against Nebraska. Shows what good competitors they are and also shows their belief in themselves. Also shows that they have good leadership. The 2015 team would have never done that.

NW and Iowa are both gonna be good in the future. At this point I'm thinking that NW may be better as they have no seniors and have some decent talent. Iowa is a better team at this point (in spite of their loss to NW last night) but they're losing Taylor Louis and Reghan Coyle next year and I'm not sure how good the underclassmen coming in are. If the underclassmen coming in are good, then I'd have to give the nod to Iowa as to having a better future sooner. (Grammar police, please don't kill me ) Gone are the days when you could count on 8-10 wins from the lame ducks in B1G. NW, Iowa, Indiana are all gonna be pretty decent teams in the future. Rutgers, gasp!, looks like they will be a decent team in a couple of years. It going to be quite interesting to see what the B1G will be like in 2 years.

I was surprised. As pointed out OSU has 4 players out. They are playing with a 5'6" OH. At the moment they are not at the level of Nebraska. With a full roster healthy they would be better than what they are now.
While Lexi Sun is playing well, I expected her to be even better. I thought she would be able to dominate. This is a kid who in eight grade was playing on the USA under 23 team.

From what I've seen, Lexi Sun has been inconsistant. Against PSU she was their best hitter. Against Minn she was 8 9 38 & against wisc she was 10 10 50. So hitting zero or below. I've seen times when she was dominant. Go figure. Might be still adjusting to Neb, or could be that Hames is inconsistant and Sun is having trouble because of that.
