Quite interested in Jenna Hampton's comment about Jonni Parker being a leader and helping her to become a leader. Not something that I see from watching, (not that I think she isn't a leader, just that I can only see who's leading by the huddles etc.) Maybe I'm not that observant I think this really bodes well for future years. I have really noticed her enthusiasm. Kendall White mentioned that Jonni has become much more vocal on the court. I'm also so glad that Kendall White is on PSU. She is so vocal and such a good leader.

In some ways I like Parker better. I think she is more terminal hitter than Megan was. By the same token, I loved Megan's blocking and her volleyball IQ. I remember a game at Illinois in 2012 where she had some solo blocks that brought PSU back from 14-10 (I think?) in the fifth set to help PSU win 18-16. And she was a freshman!!!

Maddie Martin also made some key plays in that comeback at Huff Hall. I saw her (and Katie Slay) the summer following their graduation at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and called her the "Scourge of the Illini." I think Megan was a perennial leader for solo blocks.

I totally concur with the comments about Parker. I've focused exclusively on her during matches and she's so smart, and she does remind of Megan Courtney. Apparently, she sets well, too. I think she may be the player that originally committed to OSU. Lucky us!

It is not an accident that Courtney has played Libero for the National Team. She is an excellent passer and uses her "IQ" to get into the right spots. Megan beat out ladies who played magnificent Libero in college. Her passing skills are so good that the National Team was willing to give up her blocking and hitting. Parker is also impressive. She has years to improve and who knows, maybe Parker will be a National Teamer too.
