Stanford vs OR Set 3 - Stan went up 7-1, thought it was over. BUT, OR came back and closed to 11-12. Then both teams sided out till 15-15. Then OR went up by 1 or 2 until score was 22-20. Stan got to 22-23 but OR finished them off with 2 points to win the set. Plummer (not Christopher ) was out from 18-16 on. She would been serving but was substituted out. Set 4 - Plummer back in but not playing back row. Stanford went up 6-2. Stanford up 12-6. Stanford up 20-10. Stanford finished OR off 25-11 in the 4th. OR just ran out of gas. OR played a really good match. The main problem they had was that they didn't have Plummer and Stanford did

BYU won the match, but lost the season.
That is, McKenna Miller most likely out for the rest of the season with an ACL tear in her left knee.

How do 3 starters all get concussed before/in one game?

No clue. All I saw was a remark on the PTW results thread that asked who had the information about three USC starters missing because of concussion. Most participants, myself included, had selected USC. I did not do any further research so what I "reported" is little better than third-hand gossip.

I believe Michigan has had two-three starters out for awhile. I don't think the suggestion was that they all were concussed/injured in one game or in one practice before one game.

I saw the posts about the Michigan injuries last week. But similar to the USC injuries, I found out after I'd made my picks. Definitely a first world problem.

Here's Baytree's response to my inquiry:
It was at the Oregons. Botkin got hit in the head by a ball vs Oregon. She was out for the game vs Oregon State. Then I think Lanier and Mayer-Whalley ran into each other in the Oregon State game. Lanier came out a bit after that and Mayer-Whalley wasn't ID'd as potentially having a concussion until after the game (bc of later symptoms). I'm glad that the concussions that have occurred appear to have been handled/being handled properly. (I don't know more than anyone else, just from what I can see.) I would hate for another volleyball player to go thru what Hayley Hodson had to go thru. That was quite a fiasco and appears to have led to John Dunning's retirement as a coach. (Again, don't know this for a fact, just what appears to be the case.)
