Coach has said many times that he tells players what they need to do, and that some listen and others don't. However, I would caution against reading too much into comments about particular players. Allyson is getting some playing time, notwithstanding whatever motivated these statements. Coach was probably asked a question about Allyson and responded. Note too that he said "Allyson needs to get it together. That's probably not much different than a lot of other people." So he was not necessarily calling Allyson out in partiular. Actually, I thought he was.

Possibly. But do you think this is the first time that Coach Rose has provided this feedback? I have a hard time imagining that the Coach would address these issues publicly, before speaking privately with a player . To me, it sounds like a way to emphasize a message. If there aren't changes, what's next? Her playing time doesn't increase. Not a warning -- statement of a fact. And I agree, it's probably not the first time he has said it to her (and, as Elliot noted about Rose's quote, about other players as well.)
I'm curious if that could also mean that her scholarship isn't renewed next season? I guess I'm saying there are other options to factor in, no?
Although, on a personal level, I think coach sends out these public messages so they reverberate with the players more.

Two things: 1)I think we're blowing this one comment waaaaaay out of proportion -- it was an observation Coach Rose made, I would guess (only a guess) to motivate and focus, which he qualified by saying it probably applies to others as well -- not as a threat or a warning (again, just my guess); and 2) I believe most, if not all, of the scholarships now are 4-year scholarships which can't be revoked without some "cause" -- and not improving fast enough would not, I would guess, constitute "cause." Of course, I may be wrong about all of this.

I believe that most B1G schools don't revoke a scholarship for virtually any reason other than breaking rules or academics. I'm pretty sure that injury won't revoke a scholarship tho I've heard that SEC schools will revoke a scholarship cuz of injury. IMHO.

If all Big Ten schools live by the same rules, I think it's great.

I recall interviews where Coach said that even if a player did not live up to expectations he would not pull a scholarship. Again, we did not see the question, just a comment without context. Early this season, Allyson had to play when Nia was hurt. She was inconsistent but we can see the potential. If she was really doing badly in practice then I wonder why she got subbed in during the Nebraska match. I for one think Allyson could be the starting OH next season.

Good info. Yes, I think it'll be hers to lose.
